Hubert says changes to coaching staff coming

Hubert:
“The old model of UNC Basketball (in terms of staff construction) doesn’t work.” Says the staff size will be increased.

“We are going to hire a GM.”

I haven’t seen or heard the episode. My first thoughts on this is Hubert has security for next season. And also, this might be the beginning of a game of deflecting some blame too.

I will of course me interested if this means there will be 20 former UNC players/coaches on his staff next season.

I never would've thought four years ago when I took the job that 100 percent what is needed is a general manager...There is so much on the plate that will take you away from doing the most important thing: coaching basketball. We're going to hire a GM.

"We need a director of marketing and fundraising for NIL for program needs, there needs to be a video coordinator with graphics and recruiting coordinator. All those different types of stuff that have to be built out, whether it's from specific hires or grad students. The old model for Carolina Basketball (in terms of staff size) is not sustainable. It has to build out because there are so many things in play with NIL, agents, international players. You need a bigger staff to maintain things and so I can coach basketball."

Carolina is at least 2 years behind the forward thinkers that already implemented this. Better late than never I suppose.

Now let’s see if HD is willing to shake up the bench coaches, particularly someone not in the family.

this makes me like Hubert even less. he has a good bit of the resources he’s already saying are needed. these things have zero to do with the real issue and that is that he can’t coach a lick. he knows his ass is on fire and is deflecting.

I agree this move is nothing more than a deflection into saving his job for another year or 2. All that back room bullshit doesn't change the fact that he is getting worse this year with this team. There are a few player that have improved or are improving but the team isn't and that's the issue.

I feel like EC is better this year than last year in the terms of playing PG but his shot hasn't improved.

Trimble is probably them most improved his shot his defense and his game all around.

Ian is getting better because he is getting minutes, and he is naturally talented.

RJ is RJ nothing more to say he has to be in the perfect system with the prefect scheme and teammates to be great.

Washington and Withers still suck.

But the biggest issue is they don't know how to get the best out of what they have available. There are chemistry issues, and they are lost as a staff.
