Here's a nice article from today's Wilmington Star News. Brandon's team squared off against Coby's teams in the first round of the Joe Miller Invitational. Both had big games. Coby had a game high 29 points while Brandon had 25 points, 13 boards, and 7 blocks. I'm going to keep sayin' it, Huffman and Manley are both underrated.

There's some pretty good comp in the tournament. Here's a list.

They're the same height . . . if you count the hair.
Now that made me laugh out loud, buddy.

From the article:

"Huffman, who is ranked as the No. 9 center and 97th overall player in the 2017 class according to 247sports.com, signed on Nov. 13."

So 24/7 has already moved Brandon up into the top 100. Methinks he will continue to move up as he gets more exposure.

247 isn't showing that (still 195) but I hope performances like this will move him up the ranks.

I'm going to keep sayin' it, Huffman and Manley are both underrated.

Huff and White are having great seasons so far.

Manley....ehhh. They are one of the top teams in Ohio but he's barely averaging a double double (like 11 and 10 so far). Coming off the injuries we can look past it early, but something to watch as the season progresses.

11 and 10 for a guy going to an ACC school is not really very good. These kids, especially the ones that are considered underrated, usually dominate HS ball. Watching vids of his games, he's very Joel James-ish.
Couldn't disagree more. Not even going to get into why because I generally do disagree with you, Rose, and Butter on most issues. And nothing I say is going to change the way you feel about anything.

So you disagree that most kids going to ACC schools average more than 11 and 10 in HS, no matter what level? Interesting.

Again, it depends on how strong your team is. On a well balanced team, his numbers aren't going to be as high. But I'm not going to debate it with you. It's a waste of time. Let's just disagree.

I'm trying to figure out what you've seen to make you think he's so underrated. He hadn't played ball in a year and now that he has he looks very average.

I wouldn't be debating you if you said "hey, it's too early to tell on Manley cuz he's been hurt". That's the rational statement. When you go out and say he's underrated some of us wonder where you get that from because what we've seen says otherwise.

One last time. Averaging a double double on a loaded team after basically missing two seasons is not what I consider average. And he had something like 24 and 13 against Oak Hill, outfreakinstanding. Don't agree? Fine. As I said, we'll agree to disagree.

Huh? They haven't played Oak Hill. I think you're mistaking him with Huff.

First I want to say that I am and have been higher on HUffman than Manley, that isn't a hit on Manley, it is just I really loved what I saw in Huffman early on. Recall all summer, I listed Huffman as IMO as good as any 4 star I had seen when he was I believe the lowest ranked big man we were recruiting at the time.

With Manley, I do think his rating is not a true reflection of his ability. Have to realize, his current ranking is without him playing summer ball for a kid that was 6'8" and weighted in around 205 and coming off 2 broken legs. He sprouted to 6'11" and now weights in around 245-250. Now a kid that size that can walk and chew gum at the same time is pretty much always top 100, Manley does more than just walk and chew gum. I just added a thread that shows him in a couple of recent games, he does have a lot to work on but he has a lot to work with as well.

The big thing I noticed is his conditioning really needs work but you expect that from a kid that has been on the shelf as much as he has been. I think he is a much better prospect than Joel James was, he is much more fluid in his movements and seems to have much better hands. The other thing that stuck out to me was I don't think he yet understands his size advantage, needs to work on being more assertive and now allow smaller players to box him out, use that size and strength. And, he needs to work on a couple of back to the basket finishing moves, a jump hook from either hand and a drop step would really serve him well down the road.

I do wish folks would stay away from national ranks and focus a tad more on position ranks or even state ranks....they seem to reflect accurately.

Tom, I would take it a step further and say that at least I don't really care where a kid is ranked once he has committed to us, I only care from that point forward how he may fit in with the other players we will have and what we do.

Really, I could care less if a kid like Manley moves up a single spot, I just care at this point, what I see in his play and BTW, I like a lot of what I see but do have a couple concerns. Not problematic concerns, just things I see I hope he works on.

What specifically do you like? The "highlights" don't really show much to work with now and the game reports from people who are there aren't great either.

I just wonder where you guys get these "I like a lot of what I see" from...
