anyone who has lived on the coast and gone through hurricanes can relate to how scary this is. 3 to 4 feet of water is horrific and will ruin lives. praying for the folks there.

We have a business recovery site in Austin so I left Houston yesterday with a small team and will operate business from here next week if there are issues in downtown Houston. My wife and son are home managing the house. Our street usually floods with big storms like this but water has never reached the house. Hopefully not this time either.

^That's good to hear. Is there any chance of water getting to your place? I assume at some point there is a diminishing return or something where the water doesn't go up much more but just out in places. I don't know though. That may not even be the right way to express what I mean.

The worst I ever endured was Hugo, and was right in its path.

I've never missed living at the coast.

Those flood waters I see from the photos in Houston are hard to believe.

We are not really close to any of the big bayous. That is where the flooding is occurring. Water from rainfall not being able to drain in street is our biggest threat and has come within about 20 feet of front steps a couple of times but then goes completely down when rain let's up. No worries right now.

Apparently, the Cajun Navy (who seem awesome) are having to suspend some of their efforts because people are really freaking out and it is turning violent. My golfing buddy is from Houston and says part of the problem is many of he bayou areas were put in low income areas so they flood first, which isn't surprising but certainly causes issues in terms of evacuating in those areas.

I remember the flood here in Tennessee in 2010. It was crazy. I still remember some of the videos of cars and buildings floating down the interstate in Nashville. It hit hard here in Clarksville as well. Just killed our Riverside Drive area for a while. We are lucky enough to be in an area that will never flood but many had to completely start over.

Here was a picture of LP Field

It is amazing to think things are even worse in Houston. Just devastating.

these people are calling into cnn, with power, yet cannot get ems, fire, or police.

and before i get hammered on here, i just went through this in 2015...our problem here was power and running water, we had no power or water because the systems were antiquated.

how the fuk are these people still isolated?

Not sure unless everything is underground, which wouldn't be impacted. Somewhere there has to be a substation or something one would think though. The power comes from somewhere that would be impacted by the water.

There are still people in here in FL recovering from 6 feet of storm surge in their homes from Matthew and there are still blue tarps on roofs all over the place. Workers, materials, and $ are hard to find.

very tough to watch all this........I am gonna donate a bunch of clothes and canned food as well as some cash

JCOLUCCI I am thinking of you and hoping you and yours are safe . Saw where Mrs Burke was out organizing and supervising relief efforts .... Champions obviously taking a huge hit

Stay as safe and dry as you can

Thanks. Yeah I've received pictures of our two courses and most of Cypress is completely under. Those poor folks in that area are in bad shape! I've got to figure out how to get home from Austin later this week. Actually scheduled to be in Dallas for conference next week but given our staff situation I'm probably not going. My family is very lucky. I expect it will be a very long time until some sense of normalcy returns to the city.
