Hurricane Matthew

And now the path has changed, seems Florida may get near a landfall near the space coast and here in NC we may have dodged a really big bullet...especially if the new track holds true. I hope it moves east of 75W, probably too late to wish for south of 30N...

Hope all of our friends and fellow posters in coastal Florida stay safe in the near term, and of course the same for GA/SC/NC this weekend!

It sounds like a postponement of the VT game is not off the table yet. Coming from Charlotte I'm definitely nervous about the travel to and from if the game is on. Hope the storm track can shift east in the next day or two...

It has berens, take a peek at the National Hurricane Center site, it shows the storm getting about even with Charleston and turning east, rain wind will be more coastal. Weather for 3:30pm Saturday in Chapel Hill will be great!

I can only get to one, maybe two, games per a year. I was thinking about finding some tickets for this weekend's game. I would prefer not to get soaked by the rain coming in from Mathew. Can a more seasoned and experienced game day fan advise me on the best row numbers and sections for overhangs and not getting soaked. I am not sure that such tickets will be easy to find, but still it would be good information for ticket hunting.

Try this interactive link: http://www.seats3d.com/ncaa/university_north_carolina/football/. You can click on any section to get an idea of the view from that section. It's extremely accurate. If you pivot your view straight up, you can see which seats are under an overhang versus which ones are exposed.

You'll want to sit in the lower level to guarantee overhead coverage from the upper deck. On the home side, look at sections 120-131. On the visitor side, look at sections 101-111. To be in a row high enough up to be covered, pick seats in rows SS through CCC.

The sight lines for the last several rows are obscured, meaning you may not be able to see punts or kickoffs at their apex. You also won't be able to see the giant video boards at either end of the stadium. No big deal since there are closed-circuit TV monitors hanging under the upper deck for you to view.

Raising is correct, ours are row LL and we are, Mmm, seems 10-12 rows below the overhang...to get under the overhang, his is a very good suggestion.

When the Rams Club had the seat re-assignment two years ago, I conducted a highly scientific study of the seating in Kenan (wink, wink). One of the things I was trying to figure out was the best row on the visitor side:

- high enough to be out of the rain
- high enough to get shade when the sun is higher in the sky in late summer
- low enough to get sunshine when the sun is lower in the sky in the fall

I actually scrolled through photo galleries from old games played at different times of the year, then counted the rows to see where the shade started. Man I'm such a nerd. :(

Looks like wind will be a more serious consideration Saturday. No rain.
