and I find it to be far inferior to Chapel Hill. I won’t have the time to fully assess the two as I’ll be leaving in the morning. But AA is kind of ugly and quite cold.

Did have a hot waitress with a huge ass. So there’s that.

I was just there for the Rutgers game. Ugly and cold is accurate but there are some mighty fine looking co-ed's in Bab's Underground lounge. I know, it sounds awful, but it's actually nice inside.

Well hell, that sounds like a perfect day to me.

Wife agreed she was hot.

It's been almost 25 years since I was in Ann Arbor but I quite enjoyed it. Spent a week there in December of 1993. I would never describe it as ugly, but I'm sure it's a lot nicer in seasons not called winter when trees and such are in bloom.

Why? My Google Maps doesn't even zoom out further than Washington DC to the North or Texas to the West.
I have a vacation home in Traverse City that we are renovating. Needed to bring my truck back home so we decided to break up the drive. Wanted to see AA

The Traverse City part doesn't compute. I know that's a somewhat desirable vacation home spot, but I just figured like.... desirable for someone who's born and raised on the Upper Peninsula. Wouldn't crack my Top 100 places to buy a vacation home.

But I'm just a dumb Southern boy.

Completely agree. Who wants to go north for vacation? (Who wants to go north at all?) I have a buddy that vacations in Kennebunkport, ME every summer and he tells me while it's a really cool spot, you can't stay in the water longer than 5 minutes at a time because it's so cold. I would imagine that Lake Michigan and the coast off Maine have similar water temps. In July, I'm guessing both of those spots would have water temps in the mid 60s which would make it hard to enjoy any kind of water fun for extended periods of time whereas the beaches of NC, SC and FL are going to be in the low to mid 80s. Now, often times I find the water off IOP, SC (for example) in the summer to be uncomfortably warm, I would prefer that to water I can't be in for more than 5 minutes.

True, the water is cold, but I don't go there to swim. My family is from MI and I spent time there in my youth. TC is an awesome town. Its Asheville meets Park City on the water. Summers are gorgeous, beer is plentiful, lots of great fishing, and great restaurants. Low 80s with no mosquitoes is the tits. When I am not there, I rent the place on AirBnB so it helps to offset the cost. Eyeballing Charleston, SC next.

Daaaamn. Who knew Michigan looked like that? I may have to re-evaluate my thoughts on going north. And 80 with no mosquitoes would indeed be "the tits" as you say.

Charleston, SC is the shit - greatest vacation spot in the South, IMO. I lived there for a while and loved it. I moved partly because I always felt like I was on vacation. I still vacation there. I highly recommend it. If you need some help with anything, let me know. I love sharing my experiences in the Lowcountry.

Northern Michigan is awesome. The rest of the state sucks, but there is a lot to do up there. Torch Lake is gorgeous. Fishing and hunting is top notch. Clean lakes for swimming and boating. The smaller lakes warm up into the 70s, which is still cool but managable. At night, the temp drops into the 60s. Perfect for sitting fire side and drinking. I'm almost done renovating the place and getting it ready to list on AirBnB. I'll share the link here when it's done for those interested. The whole area is a blast from the past.

Regarding Chucktown, I'll keep that in mind. I have a good buddy down there and I am trying to find some projects for work down there.

People from Michigan, people who've traveled to Michigan, people with an Internet connection....

Michigan and Wisconsin are gorgeous. I have a laundry list of places in those two states I want to visit. Shout out to @ticket2ride04 for adding another to that list. I used to have clients in Tawas City and Holland, MI but hadn't heard of Torch Lake before. Seems like my kinda place.
