That it was a shame that the report and media lumped UNC, Dook, and Mich state in with the $75,000-$100,000 schools such as state, and Arizona. Said the cases weren't even close and that their is a YUGE difference between sitting down for oh I don't know let's just say pizza or Carrabas, and paying a player or family of a player $75,000-$100,000 to attend a school. I am no dookie V. fan, as he sure tried to voice his opinion on our "scandal" that, and he just loves some dook. He did, however become a voice of reason in the mob. Kudos to you dookie v. Nicely done. (Never thought I would say that about the man)

I have always like him due to his passion for the college game! He has become really annoying in his old age since he hardly ever refers to the game he is watching and has a pathological need to mention the evil empire constantly! He is right on the nose with this so, great job Pukie V!

I always thought it was funny that you all hate Vitale when he clearly is very pro-unc at basically all times when it deals with anything outside of Duke.

His passion calling UNC games is one of the first things I remember as a kid while watching basketball.

Do I really need to poast what he said about us during the scandal? Yep in the past he lived UNC and dook (mainly dook) but he went out on a limb and demanded the harshest of punishment for us over and over. Sometimes while calling our games. So I can say what I feel and have. I still give the man kudos, but if dook wasn't mentioned I wonder if he would so emphatically defend us or Mich state

Every single announcer besides bilas pretty much said that. Is bilas the only pro UNC announcer? Come on now. Hell you even have a section of UNC fans on this board who spout how we should have been hammered and got out on a loophole.

He did, BUT... he was protecting dook first and foremost, and then he turned around and defended his boy Pitino yet again.

Agreed, some of the closet Heels fans around this board had us with the death penalty. I noticed a great many of them are scarce these days.

As to Vital he was always very pro dook, his second choice of team was UNC. If he was working a UNC game we were his favorite.

He was passionate for Dean then the Rat became his passion when Dean retired period.

Guys... Basically every announcer and analyst are in the tank for ALL the coaches in college basketball. All of them are connected to one another... A lot of them coach in each other's clinics.

College basketball is the one sport where analysts aren't harsh on any coach. Every coach is a good coach, every coach doesn't deserve to be fired, every coach is a great leader. People here think X analyst is in the tank for Duke whenever he compliments anything about Duke but doesn't realize if they really like UNC too because since we're all fans of UNC, we tend to ignore complimentary points towards UNC because it becomes repetitive to us. The reality is all the CBB analyst are soft because they're all connected to everyone and honestly, the majority of coaches turned TV analyst probably want to get back into coaching and it's a bad idea to have enemies when you're trying to get back into coaching.

For those who love dick Vitale...

From sports illustrated October, 13 2017

Longtime ESPN analyst Dick Vitale called the NCAA's ruling on the University of North Carolina academic violations "embarrassing" and "unreal" in a series of tweets Friday, after the university received no punishment.

He added that the "NCAA never fails to amaze me," and claimed that if the investigation was into a different school such as Louisville, the results would not be the same.

The investigation stems from UNC's so-called “paper classes” that required minimal coursework—simply a paper at the end of the semester—and were most popular with athletes. The NCAA ruled that the classes did not violate its policies, stating it wasn't only student athletes who benefited from the courses.
