If you could listen to an album again for the first time...

It's one of these two, and I can't pick one o'er the other . . I was completely absorbed by both and listened often.

I'm not really sure I could pick just one. I've probably listened to thousands of albums. I guess I'll just go with my favorite one from my favorite band.

There are a few albums I distinctly remember hearing for the first time -- where I was, who I was with, etc. -- because I had never heard anything like them before.

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Minus the Bear - Menos el Oso
Ani DiFranco - Not A Pretty Girl
Nirvana - Nevermind
Phish - Junta

I was going to poast more than one album but I was deathly afraid of the blowback I'd get from the OP for not following the rules. You have opened the floodgates, my friend.

A few others that, like you, I was completely entrenched in when I heard them for the first time.

Too bad Chris Robinson is a giant douche and ruined that band.
There's blame to go around with both of them. But, I agree that Chris is the bigger douche.

I heard an interview with him on Howard Stern's Sirius show a few weeks back.

I'm going to see Rich's Magpie Salute this summer. In the Stern interview, Chris called Rich's band a "Black Crowes tribute Band." The singer, John Hogg, was the singer in Rich's first solo band- Hookah Brown. I saw them at The Handlebar in Greenville in 2003. They were really good. And, I met Rich at the guitar shop across the street at the time. He walked right in and was looking around. He was really cool.

Chris Robinson probably has the most inflated ego of any musician I've ever seen. I think it was that same article where he tried to attack John Mayer for playing in Dead & Company. The problem is... John Mayer is ten times the musician Chris Robinson is. Dude is a hack. He was horrible when I saw him with Phil Lesh & Friends. Couldn't remember the lyrics and they had to take his guitar away for the second set because he couldn't keep up.

The handlebar was an awesome venue. Wish it was still around. I'd much rather check out whatever Rich has going on nowadays. CR will never get another dime outta me.

Chris sure doesn't like Mayer, no doubt. His wife is also his manager, and I get a strong vibe that she is involved in this current brotherhood squabble. He does have a gigantic ego.

But, I gotta give him his due. He can sing. He pulled off the Zeppelin tunes when they toured with Page. He's a great vocalist. I haven't heard any of his solo stuff.

Yeah the Zeppelin stuff rocked. Pulled that off rather nicely!

Does it count if I just listened to this album (all the way through) for the first time just a few days ago? I had heard Iron Man, Paranoid, and War Pigs before but not the whole album. And it's a damn good album. I love listening to (and discovering) older albums; something new to add to my rotation!
