If you listen to this interview and you don't love Roy...

What I love about his interviews is that his full character is shown in them. He gives us some of his usual jokes, says some wisecracks about the team, only then to show how much he cares about the team and wants the best for them. The part about the timeouts, really is golden. There really isn't anyone like Roy Williams, the way that he is able to really connect with those around him- may be one of his greatest qualities as a person. In the last few years, every time one of these are over you walk away from them feeling great just knowing that you have Coach Williams who is such a great coach and great person teaching our guys and molding them into great young men.

How fun would it be to sit around and talk hoops with Coach? He could raise serious money for Coaches v Cancer auctioning off a night of college hoops talk with Coach Roy......man that would be fun!!!

By chance I ran into Roy a couple summers ago while getting gas in western NC. Figure he was up that way playing golf with old friends. And I know a couple of guys that grew up in that area and knew him. Started not to even speak as I am sure he gets tired of folks wanting to talk at every turn, but couldn’t resist. He was as nice, as welcoming, and as genuine as he could be. Really talked to me liked we had known each other all of my life just because I knew two of his childhood friends. Really showed me his measure as a person. Most high profile people will smile and wave but they keep moving to avoid any real interaction. Not Roy.
