May seem at first to be a silly question considering how much higher Ingram is ranked but think about it a little bit. Kenny Williams is more the classic jump shooting shooting guard that so many have clamored for 2 straight years now. INgram is really long & thin & I know everyone looks at him as a kid that can play a guard role even at 6'9", I disgree with that notion and have been on record saying to me he is a John Henson like 4. IN any event, opposing guards driving on a 6'9" is a basketball 101 mismatch that kenny Williams is not. Williams is a 3-4yr guy, clearly Ingram 100% believe he is a one & done that needs to start as a condition of his comit, not true of Williams.
WE have now watched back to back national championship teams feature their back court with 2 more classic sized and fitted PGs & 2 guards. Guys played in more a natural position while the juggernaut of length program at Ky got to watch the title game on TV along with their starting pg & 2g that were both 6'6" & many place the reason for them not winning it all on the fact their guards were long but not quick for PGs or 2gs.
With Ingram it is more "what if he can play a back court position" while with Williams there is no such question, he is a guard, he isn't anything but a guard. Any time I have to ask what if a kid can do I also have to consider what if he can't.
I am not dumping on Ingram by this question, I honestly do not see him as a college wing but I do love his potential. I am just posing this question considering how so many have clamored for Roy to bring in those classic back court jump shooters and that is what Williams is.
And to answer my own question, I prefer Ingram actually but I see him as more in the mold of Jawad Williams or John Henson than I do Penny Hardaway or Shawn Livingston.
