Is Greensboro a UNC town?

Pretty much it is. There are a few too many dookies around the triad for my taste but Heels fans outnumber them for sure. Why do you ask with your first ever poast?
UNC is by far the most popular anywhere in NC, and this comes from a dude that has lived everywhere from ENC all the way to Charlotte with a few stops in between.
Greensboro actually has a lot of Wake Forest and NC State fans that prolly outnumber Duke fans. Greensboro the city has a lot of pride so UNCG, NCA&T and Guilford College have there own following and they could careless about ACC basketball.
Greensboro is the home of ACC headquarters and IMHO is the rightful home of the ACC Tourney, but they for sure have there own swagger. Even saying all of that UNC still is prolly the favorite if there was a vote.
Fans in Greensboro cheer for all NC schools come tourney time I know that. In ENC it is UNC and NC State and there aint to much cheering for other NC schools ever!

that is a general statement that you cannot support with facts. I will even go out on a limb and say that very few fans in Greensboro cheer for all NC schools , everybody has their favorites. ACC basketball is very polarizing. If you are saying there are fans of each team in Greensboro , then I agree , but UNC is by far the most popular and it goes back to the fact that UNC has played far more "home games" in Greensboro than anybody but maybe Wake. I bet there are more UNC fans in Winston Salem that there are Wake fans. The Wake fanbase is tiny.
I've lived in GSO for most of the last 25 years, and I definitely don't see fans here pulling for all NC teams. UNC fans would never pull for dook; some may pull for moo but usually it's because they have to, as their spouse or kid has gone to state. Wake has a small fan base, but does get secondary support from the other big 4 fans since they are akin to Switzerland (pretty neutral) and rarely in the mix for us to be sick of them.
Greensboro is most definitely a UNC town. I have been to many an ACCT game in Greensboro and the support for UNC is beautiful to behold. There are some scattered dook/Wake/State fans but most root for the Heels. When UNC plays in Greensboro, it is basically a home game, much it is when dook plays in MSG.
1. You do realize most people at the tourney games are not from Greensboro right. Lived there also "River Oaks" off of Wendover
2. Greensboro is home to the largest historically black College in the country ( A lot care more about MEAC tourney than ACC)
Nothing much to debate other than you do realize Winston-Salem is apart of triad and they are home to Wake Forest so you do have a portion that supports them also.
3. Lots of NC State people there because of all the factories that utilize Engineering.
4. I still stated UNC "prolly" has largest fan base if there was a vote.
I might come from left field, but usually I can make a case for my post!
I am in Mcleansville just 5 minutes north of Greensboro and most guys I work with are Tar Heels fans with a few dook and moo fans mixed in. BTW Eric Church will be in concert here in Greensboro on Sat . May 20th for anyone who cares ..
57 pretty spot on. Lived here for 47 years and A & T has a huge following. UNC by far in my interactions are the preferred team. Growing up way more wake n state fans than dook but that has changed. Band wagon generation came along with lom success and doherty hiccup (my opinion only).

You didn't say care more about , you said "could careless" , which is completely false.
Wake's fan base is small , so yeah a small portion. Contrary to what moo fans would have us believe , they are not all engineers..
Burlington NC has the most Duke fans I have ever seen anywhere else other than Durham. I think just judging on what I have seen is that it has a favorite Duke ratio of 3 to 1 over Carolina. Couldn't believe it when I first moved nearby.
I grew up in Burlington (thank God I'm gone now) so it's easy for me to believe that the majority of those west Burlington douche bags are dookies.
I would guess that 80% of native North Carolinians that pull for dook basketball were previously moo fans that had to switch allegiances in order to satisfy their full blown ABC-ness. I've met quite a few people that would still pull for moo football but switched to dook basketball. Pathetic...
A carolina game in the Greensboro coliseum is a better atmosphere than a carolina game in the dean dome more times than not.....
So true. State has been so bad for so long that many State fans openly root for dook because of their hatred for us. It makes me smile wheyI see it
Nope. That stopped in the mid-late 60's when they begin to develop liberal arts and business departments and majors.
Very true. I distinctly remember a former co-worker that would talk trash whenever moo won or UNC lost, but somehow (conveniently) didn't get a chance to watch all the games that state lost.
Not true in my case. I have a co-worker who lives 2 houses down from me who is a Wolfpecker fan. He sports his Wolfpecker hat and shirts all the time. He has magnet for N.C. State on his truck. I give him hell all the time about him being a good loyal fan because the Wolfpeckers have not given him a reason to cheer or gloat but he stays true to them.
We were there! Detroit too! In G'boro, Radford had some of the most supportive, best behaved fans I've ever observed. Wrote a letter to their AD saying so, to which he graciously replied.If you were there in 09 for NCAA games you would know..
TAR HEEL COUNTRY!
Coaches didn't care for it, but we use to attend and enjoy the Big Four Tournament in G'boro. Always ate at Stamey's.
