If you don't watch it or, worse, don't think it's funny. You're wrong.

I pretty much have Netflix just so I can watch that show ad nauseam. And I can't go a whole day without quoting it or just seeing something during my day that cracks me up because it reminds me of something from an episode.

Always Sunny is one of my absolute favorite shows ever. It's also one of the rare comedies that basically gets funnier as it continues to be on the air. How this show gets less than zero recognition at the Emmys is perplexing, but it is hysterical

The fact Danny Devito is not only willing to be part of this show when you know he doesn't need to be a part of this show is one thing, but to top it with the fact he regularly does the absolute craziest, most depraved things a human can do on this show is nothing short of a miracle. He is comedic gold on this show.

If you've ever wondered what Seinfeld would be like if the show focused on even worse people, that show would be It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I don't watch it but I don't really watch TV outside of sports and HBO. But I tried to get into it back in the day. It's funny. But it's not that funny. Something happened about 15 years or so ago where everybody thought you had to be outrageous to be funny. "Clever" left and "outrageous" replaced it. It just seems kind of cheap to me.

I don't know how many episodes you watched, but Always Sunny is very clever IMO. Sure, it's outrageous too, but I think there's a method to their madness. It and Archer just get to me. Although it's animated, Archer is hilarious on multiple levels -- it's got base, gutter humor for the masses, but it's also got clever, cerebral humor with subtle puns and allusions

I can understand your feeling on this if you haven't watched many of them, but I think there are plenty of examples of episodes that are actually pretty clever. There are a number of episodes that are metaphors for or commentaries on real-life issues, like "The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation," "The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis," "The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis," "Mac Fights Gay Marriage," "Gun Fever," "Gun Fever Too: Still Hot," "The Anti-Social Network," and "Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack." They also had a very self-aware episode about how the show never gets any sort of recognition from the Emmys called "The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award," and that was one of my favorite episodes. Now there are plenty of episodes about them just being terrible people, and doing outrageous things, no denying that at all, but it is a pretty clever show as well, imo. They can either comment on a bigger issue like North Korea or the recession, or just sort of small, petty annoyances, like Jersey Shore or Toddlers & Tiaras. I would agree with THN that Archer is another show that has some broad, outrageous humor, but there is some subtlety and jokes that most people would have to look up to really get. I would also toss South Park in there, because it's a show if you don't regularly watch, just seems like it's about toilet humor and swearing, but underneath that, there is a lot of pretty solid satire.

I'm a big Always Sunny fan, but if it's not for you, it's not for you. To paraphrase an old quote, that's why there is more than one channel. ;)

^ pretty much every episode of South Park these days is a work of genius. I have Hulu Plus and will periodically re-watch SP episodes at random (I always pick from like season 8 or later....the first few seasons were pretty godawful in my opinion, but it's gotten so much better since like 2005), and I re-watched "Let Go, Let Gov" or whatever it's called last night. HILARIOUS because of how the government becomes God/religion. That show throws so many clever social commentaries at you that it's ridiculous.

South Park is one of the greatest shows in the history of TV. I'm the opposite though; I prefer the older ones. Nostalgia, I guess. The newer ones are still good though.

Oh, Bob's Burgers is outstanding. Definitely one of my favorites that are currently on the air. There are plenty of solid comedy shows out there right now. I think your more "outrageous" ones are gonna be found on HBO, FX/FXX, or Comedy Central just because they can get away with more, but there are a number of comedies that I watch (or have watched in the past year) on Fox, NBC, ABC, IFC or Netflix that are funny without necessarily being "outrageous." Bob's Burgers is certainly in that group. H. Jon Benjamin has been killing it lately between that and Archer.

I do not like South Park. It's probably funny but I could never understand WTF they're saying with those stupid voices.

And BTW, how on earth do you folks have this much TV time?

Not married and no kids.
Ditto. I do have some other time-occupying things, but I have many friends that watch many tv shows, so if I hear enough about a show from people whose opinions I generally respect when it comes to entertainment, I give the show a chance, and if I like it, I stick with it. I do have a high number of regular television shows in my repertoire. It helps that many of the shows I watch are on cable, which means that they have shorter seasons and aren't on at the same time of the year. Also, online availability/DVR has really helped in this manner.

Challenge accepted. I hate that damn show

Also, re: the last few posts above, I don't know how y'all watch Bob Burgers. It is terrible, IMO. You'd think I like it since I like Archer and Always Sunny, but BB is unwatchable in my opinion.

I know fans of both Archer & Always Sunny that like Bob's Burgers, and I know fans of both who don't. It's not a style of comedy that appeals to everyone, and really, other than H. Jon Benjamin, there's not much in common with Archer's style. As the saying goes, if you have to explain why it's funny, it stops being funny, so I can't really quantify what I like about it, but I think it's pretty funny. It's definitely an absurd type of humor, but I like that.

It's strange for me not to find comedies 100% not funny because a lot of things make me laugh, but I guess I just don't get Bob's Burgers.
