Zone is a good fit against Louisville. UVA can shoot and of course does not rush shots, and obviously so can Dook and ND if we are so fortunate to win today, so we may not be seeing a whole lot more of it.
Honestly, I'd like to see us go after them tonight with with some half court scrambles and force the tempo. They might hit a few but you can't let them control the pace. The key to beating them is our transition game.
I'm kinda on the fence about being more aggressive tonight against UVA?
1). On one side, I agree that they've had some injuries of late to Perrantes(Broken Nose), Anderson missing 7/8 games, and Adkins going down with the ankle sprain yesterday, so the Wahoos may be susceptible too more pressure?...And agree that they want to hold the ball until the best available shot, and want you to use up most of the shot clock on your end, so it's going to be difficult to speed up UVA, since No team has generally been able to do that this year?....The best way to do that is for the Tarheels to come of the gate on fire, and make the Wahoos play catch up, and play our tempo in order to have a chance at getting back in the game?....However, will we have enough left in the tank to make that happen all game long with this being our 3rd game in 3 days?....As you know, we've had several late game collapses this season already...ie Louisville and Dook..etc...!
Having played UVA so long ago, I can't remember exactly how much Zone that we played, if any, against them the first time?....We will probably have to play more Zone tonight in order to remain fresh for the whole game, and I think that we need more of the half court trapping that you mentioned in order to keep the tempo to our liking if we choose to play more Zone than Man-to-Man tonight?...It's going to be really interesting to see how Roy is going to change things up this time around against the Wahoos?
Another thing that I like about tonight's matchup is that we are coming into the game with more confidence, winning the last 2 games as opposed to losing that game at Dook with only a day to recover mentally before playing the Wahoos the first time....Very different mind-set for the team going into tonight's game!
Any which way you look at it, it's going to be a challenge, but I like the motivation factor and underdog role for the Tarheels going into this game tonight!
Go Tarheels!
