He certainly won't come here, because he wants to be the featured RB in a classic offense like the I. But might he find a home elsewhere in the ACC?

Reports are saying that he wants to transfer positions as well. Looking to be a WR or TE wherever he lands.
He's as strong as a horse. If he has the quickness, he would be a monster at WR. If he ca do that, I;d like to have him.

He's from Hendersonville TN - supposedly a good kid with sound grades in HS.

The rumor is there was a contentious meeting and then later the players had a meeting and Hurd and others allegedly quit.

They have several commits that would be great to poach , OL Riley Locklear who UNC was a finalist for and several DT's The Gaddy Brothers and Eric Crosby all from VA if I remember correctly.

I didn't post but there is an ESPN video questioning is Butch Jones on the hot seat.
Marquez North Sould'a been at UNC) is also unemployed after being cut in the NFL.

Shy Tuttle - come on back to your home state flagship university.

Hasn't he had season ending injuries both seasons? I read he started 3 games this year. I wonder how many he would have started at UNC and Dalton could have stayed at DE.

I know he's been badly banged up, but I haven't cared enough to know how bad.

Crosby is the top DT commit the Vols have that we also offered. Maybe he'll start to give us another look. I think he may be like Lawrence: the kind of true frosh DT who can play and make a difference on a ranked team with high aspirations.

Other than Locklear and Crosby and the top Gaddy, and that RB from Montgomery Bell HS in Nashville, there's not much in the Vols commitment class I'd like to have.

I live here in Tennessee and have heard a lot of different things. Everyone knows someone who knows someone and the opinions range from this kind of being on Hurd to being on the system and promises that were not followed through on. From what I have seen they have not used him correctly. He is a beast though. I'm surprised he didn't just play it out and head to the NFL, where I think he would actually fit better as a RB than in many of today's college systems. He could be a great tight end here IMO. I'm not so sure about him wanting to change positions. That doesn't make sense to me when everything I've heard projects him as a good NFL RB prospect.

I read that The Vols no longer have 12 players from their #7 rated recruiting class of 2014. Also can't Hurd declare for the draft this year?

What a gross article. I'm sure there's extreme disagreement on the issue, but a fan or writer hammering a kid for transferring is just ridiculous IMO. The irony is that he's accusing Hurd of being an entitled brat, when in fact it might be the other way around. /rant
Agreed. It always irritates me when people say this type of stuff. Where are they at when coaches "quit on their team" for another job? What's the difference between the two? I'm guessing those coaches don't go into a recruits home and say that he only plans on coaching at the school until he can get a better job. They tell them that they want to coach him for 4 years.

He can. He's been out of HS 3 years. And that he seems determined to go elsewhere in college is interesting. Perhaps it is that he is determined to switch positions. 6-4 RBs are a rarity. The NFL made Ethan Horton a TE. Hurd as the NFL type HB could be particularly effective, because he could run the ball from that position better than other HBs.

So, if that is what he is after, he needs to transfer someplace that passes a lot and will want to use his size - his 240 pounds.

There is no difference. A player can 'quit' on his team for a number of valid reasons.

If he stays FBS he will have to sit out a year , unless he graduates, making him 23 when he goes to the NFL.
