Where's the basketball expert on this board that told us we didn't need a center in the transfer portal? Washington is no more s starting caliber center at Carolina then I am. Throw in Withers at the 4 and it should get s coaching staff fired. Its inexcusable and beyond pathetic that they went into this season as our starting 4 and 5. The basketball program is quickly becoming irrelevant in every form of recruiting. Lost a kid to Washingyon today that they hadn't recruited all year. The offensive juggernaut that is the Spsrtans are getting ready to drop a 50 spot in the first half. An absolute clown show with no accountability.

the lack of a physical presence is alarming and it’s going hurt us unless these wings get going…this is crazy.
He's too weak to guard true centers.
He's too slow to close out on shooters.
He's too immobile to defend the pick and roll.
He's too unathletic to win opening tips or defend the rim.
He loses the ball if you bump him.
He rarely even looks for his jumper, and he's struggling from the FT line recently.
It took him 27 minutes to get his 1st rebound against Auburn.
He's our starting center because we have a broke *** NIL.

Hubert has been he 4 years and he is yet to recruit a center that can play.
There is not reason UNC basketball shouldn't be able to recruit and combine that with some money to get a big men.
Our boosters won't support NIL. It's not just basketball that's suffering because of it.
But they will support a new arena so they can buy more lifetime seats. They will support over 2 million dollars to keep Mack Brown from ever coaching again

I do believe the falling behind in games early is a result of our starting lineup and that Jalen Washington simply can't be a starter anymore.
The starting lineup is definitely tied to the bad starts to games, but I’d prefer that Withers be swapped with Powell to start games.
At this point, I’d play James Brown more. No way he can produce less than Washington if given the same minutes.
OK, so here is the problem with JWash, he isn't physically able to to move out these big centers, he is that long thin frame guy. Defense is always going to be a problem for a guy giving away as much weight as Jalen does typically. B ut if he is giving you enough on the offensive end to off set some of the defensive short coming then you can be fine. BUT his jump shooting has fallen off, his shot does not look nearly as solid as I have seen it and he jump shots less than he did even last season, hard to understand. It is as if we are using him similar to Bacot, set a bunch of screens and we will get you the occasional dunker but set that top screen and roll down EVERY SINGLE TIME?
You are not going to find a bigger advocate for Jalen than me but folks, he is not being used to his advantage and it is choking every thing up. Now, vs MSU he played less than 14mins yet did still grab 7 boards to lead the team in rebounds. I have shared for multiple years, I feel he is more of a 4 than a 5, he needs more junk in the trunk and some big man go to scoring moves to be a 5 at this level. For him to play the 5 he has to be used properly, that means not used as a guy that needs to be overly physical because that just is not his game.
Got a chance to watch Great Osober last night. He is the type of guy I wish UNC went harder at in the portal. A bit chubby, a bit undersized yes, great passer, demands attention inside or out. Not a top big with NIL this summer, but was the type that would of helped immensely with this roster.
