Jay Williams takes shot at K. "Should have let me leave"

Just watched Jay Williams on Mike and Mike and he expressed some issues him and K had over the years. One of the things he said right away was that K told him not to leave after his sophomore year, even though he was going to be the #1 pick in the draft.

Couldn't imagine Roy ever doing that. Jay Williams went on to say that K's had to adapt to kids these days basically giving him no choice and that they are going to leave no matter what in this one and done culture.

Why am I not surprised. I re-watched the Dean Smith documentary last night (on Showtime, I think). They talked about how Dean always encouraged his players to go pro if they were going to be in the top 5 picks. They focused on Michael Jordan leaving after his Junior year. They also focused on how Coach Smith nudged his players to come back and finish their degree at UNC. 97% graduation rate! I'm sure some will say they did it with "no show" classes and cheated to get their degree. However, I choose to think that Dean did things to benefit the player and coach k did things to benefit coach k!

As more time goes by, more and more folks are recognizing what many, including me, have long known about Coach F Bomber...he is a self centered egomaniacal jerk who has constructed a phony veneer of being this great altruistic guy. He is a win at all costs individual. someone who has GLADLY adopted the One and done mentality of Kentucky.

His cover up of the Lance Thomas $70k jewelry scam, which would have cost the UNJ DERM folks a Natty title, is just one of many many examples of his win at all cost mentality. He routinely churns out a host of dirty players from Laettner to Dirty Jones to Henderthug to Winslow and on and on. His program is among the most reviled in all of sports because of his incessant baiting and intimidation of referees and the endless calls that UNJ DERM has gotten over 30 plus years. His cowardly"scheduling" and refusal to actually play tough non conference games at the HOME of the opponents is legendary and a disgrace.

His latest embarrassing stint after the Syracuse game... prowling and sulking in front of the scorers table, after a "tough call that he termed "AMAZING" in his whining press conference, displays his real persona once again


He is a phony and a fraud..... hope we kick the ever lovin ish out of them every time we play them

I guarantee some of the "no show classes" are harder than some of these on-line degrees. I think you can get an MBA in like 48 hours now.

Jay Williams still has Duke loyalty and wants them to do well but he has seemed refreshingly objective this year. Calls out their deficiencies like no PG and even points out what k should do better / differently. Doesn't make injury or other excuses for them.

In all these respects he's better than most other on air dookies and much better than the mindless other DSPN hacks who endlessly slurp everything about k and Duke regardless of real results in an off year.
