JB 1st-team All-ACC...

..preseason, as I knew he would be (3rd most votes)
JJ second team.
Hicks nowhere to be found.... that's ok --- keep sleepin' on him.
Great nod to JB and well deserved. Also 4 of the projected starters are on pre-season national award watch lists: Joel for Cousy, JJ for Robertson, Hicks for Malone, Meeks for Jabaar.

Of course, preseason lists are just that - preseason. I'll always go back to Andrew Bogut who wasn't on any of the pre-season top 50's and ended up consensus POY.

I give very little credence to most preseason lists. Just something to generate fan interest.

I think Isaiah may surprise a lot of ABC fans.

Hicks flying under the radar is great for us. It will motivate him and hopefully, peeps will take him lightly!

JB finally getting the props he has always deserved. I loved his comment about the media giving props to peeps that hadn't played one minute of college ball over those who had a proven record! Could this be a nod to the D. Smith hype?

Surprised Bradley didnt even get one vote for Rookie. Feel like he is going to surprise people.

Probably because he's not gonna start, and because of the high-profile OADs who will.
But I think Tony will comport himself very well for us this season.
Yeah, I'll make an 18 month prediction: Tony for most improved in 17-18. His broad shoulders are going to be loaded up in that soph year.

Thats true. I was taken aback at how much length he had and how well he runs the floor, If anything he may have been underranked? I believe he was anywhere from 17th to 25th depending upon the service. You can see the potential all over him. I actually made the remark on here somewhere that if he develops at a reasonable rate over the year I am not ruling out him being a OAD. Do I think it will happen? probably not, its just that hes far more developed than when I saw him last.

Tony didn't come in with the intention of being a OAD from what I was told. Very grounded and wants to develop his game. And yes, he is very long and as he gets stronger will turn into a rim protector without having to jump much. His soph season will likely set up to be his break-out --- hopefully playing beside Mr. Washington.

Yeah, in a year when dook brings in 3-4 top 15 players according to some rankings, Tony's not going to get much preseason hype. And that's fine. Like our backcourt, I think he's under ranked. I expect immediate solid production from Tony, not what Tatum will produce, but Tatum will likely start too. I could see him giving us 6 and 5 in 18-20 MPG.

I'll be surprised if he's not at least a 3 year collegian.

Hmm Id be thrilled if this player was with us 3 years. Man idk, I hope so, but I saw a potential OAD and definitely a 2 and done in him unless something very strange happens. But I hope you are right because I love this kids skill set.

Well, he won't be asked to truly shine this year, just provide solid backup minutes. An injury to Kennedy or Isaiah would change things drastically.

Tony's not exceptionally athletic, like Giles or Tatum. He is a big guy who can run the court, who has good hands, decent post moves already, and an enormous 7-5 wingspan. He's also sort of a throw back center who is comfortable operating with his back to the basket, and who doesn't want to be a guard. IOW, his bread and butter is inside and he knows it.

So I think it will take him at least 3 years to get strong enough and perfect his post moves to the extent that he can effectively move on to the next level. I guess I also see him as a humble kid who's not anxious to turn pro ASAP. One that will bide his time, enjoy the college experience, and perhaps get his degree before moving on. IOW, the type of kid our program has traditionally been predicated on.

Just my 2 cents worth.
