I just noticed that UCLA beat Stanford on Thursday.

Stanford is now 11-15 and Jerod has only had 2 winning seasons there, the last being 2020. No post-season tournament appearances.

Sad to see. When he went to UAB the future looked very bright for him.

UCLA, by contrast, seems to be back under Cronin. They are 22-4 at the moment and their record has improved every year since Cronin got there.

They gave UCLA a close game at the pavilion.

Stanford actually has academic requirements. They have their first ever grad transfer this season...a 3 point ace from Davidson. It's hard to meet with their academic requirements.

Roy’s assistant coaches have not exactly set the world on fire as head coaches.
They have not. Which should have been a HUGE reason that everybody rejected the 'hire only from within the family' stuff. There is not only no Roy from among Roy's assistants, but there is not even an Eddie Fogler from Roy's assistants.

Steve Robinson, Jerod Haaase, and CB McGrath were a super trio of assistants under Roy. None of them has ever shown any sign of becoming excellent HCs. Perhaps the only way that Davis could get the job done is if he that trio as assistants.

Or Perhaps Hasse should be HC with Robinson, McGrath, and Davi as assistants.

Well, Hubert does have Jeff Lebo. Maybe what he needs is a couple more unimpressive former head coaches.

Would Haase like to come back to UNC? Probably a bad idea, but who knows? Maybe he has the complementary skills this crew seems to be missing.

The question is how much is he listening to his assistants. He could have the greatest assistants of all time, but if they have no input, then it doesn't matter. I'm not sure exactly how much advice Hubert takes from them.

I still have hope for Wes. I know he's not a former Roy asst, but he's in the UNC tree and arguably the only one who had a modicum of real success prior to the Hubert hire.

I haven't caught many Cincy games this year, but it does seem he improved from year 1 to year 2. Which is more than I can say for us. Next season when they're in the Big 12, hopefully he can snag a few upsets and make the tourney.
