Jordan Peterson on Bill Maher - Good Clip

He also has very strong feelings about the feminization of males in today's society. Studies have shown testosterone levels are declining in males. He's got some pretty good ideas.

Peterson is good when he sticks to his strengths. He sounds like a quack when he starts on the lobsters though.

"Why should your right to freedom of speech trump a trans person's right to not be offended?"

It terrifies me that we live in a time where this question even has to be asked. The obvious answer, of course, is that you don't have a Constitutional right to never be offended.

I think he's spot on about our society attempting the impossible task of protecting everyone from anything that might be offensive. Aside from being a complete waste of energy, the world simply doesn't work like that. I disagree that universities caused that problem. Sure, they're a cog in the wheel, but you don't ever have to set foot on campus to have a giant chip on your shoulder. We're inundated daily with news stories and social media screaming "look how offended we are!" at us. Emotional hemophiliacs is a great description.

And I'm warming up to Mahar. I still definitely don't "like" him. But I don't hate him anymore.
I’ve been back and forth for a while on Maher. But in recent year’s he’s really moderated some of his more radical opinions. I respect most though, that he educated himself and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. His show is one of the best places for good back and forth.

Never heard of this guy before... but, that was incredible.

I mean, I understand that no one particularly likes being hurt or offended by other people. That's universal (I think). If I feel compelled to maliciously harm another person with my language, because of a feeling or belief I have about whomever I'm attacking, then I would hope that I could restrain myself and realize that what I do to another, I do it to myself. But, I don't think that is what this guy is talking about. Rational discourse, that includes vehement opposition from those participating, is not "wrong"... it's necessary.

If there was never any kind of conflict or difference of views and/or opinions, the species would die. There's always contrast and subsequent change. Without controversy, the society is, not only boring, but stagnant and crystallized.
