Jordyn Adams may not make it to campus

Some of the more astute fans of both sports have seen for a long time the possibility that Adams would take MLB money.

My line has always been that if you have top skills in each, and you love both and are not certain you prefer baseball, go to a school in either the SEC or ACC, where league play baseball is very good. At the end of 3 years, you will have much improved baseball experience and training and also have a much better idea what the NFL life would be like and your odds of playing in the NFL.

But many guys take the first money, planning to play college football in 3 or 4 years if MLB seems out of reach.

Maybe a team falls in love with him, but he’s not rated in Baseball America’s top 200. Money outside the first few rounds is not great and the lifestyle of a young minor leaguer is terrible. If he wants to try baseball, give it a shot at UNC while playing football.

Was looking forward to seeing this kind pick up where Prohl left off..

He very well might not make it to campus, but that's a trash article. I'm giving it a 25% chance they made that particular baseball scout up just to make a better article. Make no mistake, Adams' stock is on the rise, especially after he and his Cary (N.C.) Green Hope team made the finals of the recent NHSI tourney, but he's not a first or second rounder.

It makes no sense to me why the DTH didn't interview Carlos Collazo about his opinion on Jordyn. Not only was Carlos a DTH staffer a few years ago, he also covers SOLELY the MLB Draft for Baseball America, and he was at the NHSI tourney I mentioned above. He would've been the perfect guy to interview. The fact they didn't makes me question the whole article.

I dont think he will be drafted high enoug for him to go. Everything i have seen has been 5th round or worse

Where are you seeing it? Not saying you are wrong, I'm legitimately curious. All I can find for MLB mock drafts only show the first couple of rounds.

Things are picking up more quickly than even Jordan expected:

And still sounds like 3rd to 5th.

Interviewer said: "Right now, will you be enrolling this summer at unc for football". Jordyn said "yes, but I do realize that could change"

The GT-UGA baseball game is on the SECN. The announcer just made a point I've long made about those two leagues especially: he said - in reference to how many top college players will be drafted high - that the quality of play is so high in those two conferences that guys coming out them as key players are going to make an easy transition to the top minor leagues and then quickly to MLB.

Interesting article on Adams and MLB draft that acknowledges how good he could be playing WR.

I'd like to know if UNC back into the Super Regional will have any impact on his decision.

A lot of mock drafts have him going mid first round. Based on last year's numbers that's a $2-3 million signing bonus. Hard to see him passing that up.

Adams picked#17. Guess we won't see him in a UNC uniform.

Whoops.

If this is supposed to be a shot at me, it's pretty weak. When I made that poast, Adams wasn't mocked as a first or second rounder. And in general, he doesn't have first or second round talent. He's going to be a better base-stealing version but worse power-hitting version of Jason Heyward. Without the mega contract.

Not really a shot, just ****ing with you about getting it wrong. Don't be so serious.

I can't be very jovial tonight. Even though I made my peace with it, it still sucks losing Adams. That's a huge, huge, huge loss for UNC Football. After this season, we will have no quantity at WR and will have minimal quality.

And no Gunter Brewer, the best position coach we had.
