JP will be overseas or D League.

JP has great athleticism and may well have a decent (not necessarily lengthy) NBA career if he continues to work hard and improve on his mid to long range game. Wish him well.

He's a drafted rookie. He will be given a shot. A lot of folks misread a story about their crowded training camp and assumed the rookies would be left out. Nobody is gonna turn away a drafted player until he has a shot at the roster.
The player could jump overseas if he sees sure $ but not often.

I'm just glad that JP moved on from college ball. He was, after all, holding back our next All-ACC superstar PG, Joel Berry . . (aka : 'the next Ty Lawson').

I think the wisdom of this choice depends entirely on what is being offered overseas. If JP had a guaranteed deal abroad for mid to high 6-figures, I think it's a pretty tough call to sign a completely unguaranteed 1 yr. deal in Philly that may not even results in a roster spot. However, if it's a mediocre deal, maybe it's worth the gamble. If there's any team that is in a position to take a flyer on Tokoto, it's Philly -- as he's a kid who clearly can't help anyone in the NBA win now, but has a lot more upside than most people you can keep around for an unguaranteed rookie deal. Sixers may just keep him on the roster with the hope that he could develop into some type of trade asset down the road.

:p Watch out Billy... sarcasm can lose its bite when it comes true

I wish nothing but the best for the players, I for one was sad to see JP leave.

LOL at any fool that ever thinks Berry will ever come close to being a Ty Lawson production player . .

Ah Billy... nothing if not consistent. Personally, I'm not much into the old "player-X is going to be the 'next' (fill in the blank)" thing --- it's always speculation and never fair, to either player --- but y'know what, just for fun I'm gonna leave this right here, just for you. Enjoy.

Dang Gary! "Bleacherreport"-Really? TWO year old article?

But I'm with you all the way when it comes to comparing players. Let them be themselves and enjoy. I for 1 am looking forward to seeing Berry as a Soph.

I can't wait to see Joel Berry be Roy's greatest PG . . he's going to be better than Felton, Marshall and Lawson . . ?

L@@KING Forward to it . .

Mikey, I started following Berry right before he committed. I was turned on to him by an AAU coach buddy who had just gotten back from a tournament. His exact words were "I'm hearing Carolina's about to get their next great Point Guard". It didn't take much checking out with these eyes o' mine to see he was right.
I pulled out that old article because I knew Billy would get a kick out of the comparisons ;), but amid the hyperbole it actually contains a pretty darned good primer on why so many of us were so high on JB coming in. Hell, just the video sequences vs that top-level competition shows you a Carolina-system coach's dream... and I still hear folks talk about how dominant he was in his last EYBL circuit season... again, against the highest level competition.

Why is this post here? This is a Tokoto thread. Your posting lately is borderline trolling = /

I'm pretty sure I mentioned JP in my post. Do you really think that if Tokoto had stayed his senior year that Joel Berry or Nate Britt would take his place in the starting line-up . . ?

I hope this helps . . if, it doesn't, hit that 'ignore' feature for me. You can access it by clicking on Mr. Walter and then choose that very option.

Yes, Berry would have. Obviously. Anything else?

And, every poster of note who isn't really from Duke, UK, or NCST has echoed that. Just watching the team, it played a much better game with Berry at point. That is before you even add the statistics to match what you saw.

If you want to sit here and bash Berry every post, go ahead. But, all it is is trolling. And, it just puts you one the same level as the guy who thinks Nate Britt is the best PG on the team in my eyes as far as basketball IQ goes. = /

I'm not a Berry basher or a basher of any other Tar heel player. I do know for a fact that Britt was almost always the first off the bench to replace Paige last season.

And the absolute best PG (and player) on this team is Marcus Paige. hands down, end of story.

Wrong... Paige is not the best pg on the team. Best player? Yes. Best SG? Yes. Best Pg? Nope

So, who is better . . ?

A guy that has never ever started a game at PG, or yet even a game for UNC is the better PG . . ? LMFAO

Paige was listed as the 9th best player of the top 50 college basketball players. See Gunslingerdick's thread . .

From the article linked :
http://thebiglead.com/2015/07/30/50-best-players-college-basketball-2015-2016/

9. Marcus Paige, PG, UNC – Top senior point guard in the country. There’s an argument that he was better as a sophomore, and he played with the burden of the NBA on his shoulders as a junior. The Tar Heels are stacked, and if he can shoot 45/40, he could be the Player of the Year and guide UNC to the Title.

Does it say "Top senior PG in the country " . . . ? Why Hell yes, son . .

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out, he was recruited by Roy to be his PG, he started every game last year as UNC's PG and he's the best player on the team.

If, you wanna take issue with Roy Williams' judgment, then do so . . but, he is a HOF coach, UNC's coach, and he started Paige at PG all of last season. Berry received 'ZERO' starts and never has started a game for us. Paige, however has started at PG for us his freshman, sophomore and junior year whenever he was healthy enough to start/play . . and you think that Berry(who has never started a game for UNC) is better than Paige at the point . . ? LOL

Its not that hard to figure out . .

Paige has been and will be our starting PG all of next year. He is our leader, he is rated a top 10 player in all of college basketball.

You guys can read all of Gary-7's narratives that Berry is a better PG until the cows come home iffn' you wanna, but, the bottom line is Paige is and will be our PG until he leaves. History says it will be so . .

LOL at anyone that may think that Berry being our best PG . .

Billy, please be honest, did Berry bang your mom?

I doubt it, since my mom passed away 12 years ago . . Berry woulda been what 7-8 years old at the most.

Things just don't add up, much, like Berry being our best PG doesn't either . .

I hope this helps .

UNC has lost 33 games in three seasons with MP as the starter. LOL. Oh but MP is the best pg on the roster? Don't count on him starting every game at pg this year.

Ya know, we're talking about Roy's judgment here and not mine. He felt confident in Paige as a freshman, sophomore and junior . .

Did Berry start as a freshman as Paige did . . ? NO

As a sophomore like Paige did . . ? NO

As a junior, like Paige did . . ? NO

Has Berry ever started a game for UNC . . ? NO

You're getting your arse kicked here tonight '05 . . . turn your night light on and go to bed before them gremlins under your bed come for ya.

Lol... The only arse kicking i see is you being proven wrong over and over but I don't know why I'd expect an LGBT liberal like yourself to see that.

So now, turn your night light on and crawl in bed with your boyfriend.

I am a liberal, this is true. Don't have or need a boyfriend . .

I'm just a 66 year old man living out his last days . .

Good call on the night light, that one's be used once already in this convo . . LOL . . try to think of something new.

I'm done going back and forth with you. I would've kept quiet but couldn't take anymore of your snide remarks towards Berry in this thread. We get it, you don't think JB is the best pg on the roster. Heck, it seems that you just don't like him. I'm just gonna agree to disagree with you on how things will play out this season. Honestly, I shouldn't have made personal attacks on you and do apologize for that. Take care

'05 . . . I love having JB as one of our players. I think he's got some improving to do to become our best PG though. I think we're looking at a Paige-Berry backcourt this year and it will be a good one.
There has never been a player at UNC I don't like, though I wasn't much of a fan of Ndaiye or later on, Jeff McInnis . .

I'm really not aware of any personal attacks on me, so, no need for any apologies . .

Ah, I get it now. You are one of those stubborn ol' heads who can't see the light of day. Lol. All good. Berry is going to be our key to success this year. If you want a banner, you better hope he leads us there. Paige isn't going to.

There is no single one 'key' to our success or failure, it will be a collective effort from not only Berry/Britt/Paige, but Hicks, Meeks, Jackson, Johnson, Pinson, James and Williams.

However, you are correct, I'm not delusional in my thinking that Joel Berry is going to be the only one to lead us to a title. You're putting way too much responsibility on the young man's sophomore shoulders . . his first task this year, will be to beat out Nate Britt in Roy's eyes for a starting spot. What if Roy wants this squad to play at a faster pace . . ? Thats more in line with Britt than with Berry . .

How 'bout we wait and see who Roy puts on the starting line before we christen Berry as the leader of next year's team.

May be so foul line to foul line, but once there he has NO CLUE what to do. Hope that improves.

This is true, as Nate must learn to be able to finish . . . the plus side to his speed is that he is pushing the defense and wearing them down, which pays dividends later in the game.
