Spoiler: The ACC Sucks.

I know, a real shocker.

Judging conferences by Quad 1 wins is a bit Catch-22-ish but I was bored, so I thought I'd take a look.

[I just ran my eyes down the NET ranking list. Feel free to correct if I muffed the count.]

lmao, "real shocker". Wow, I think we all knew the ACC was bad but your summary shows how pathetic the conference really is, dammit...

Saw a very depressing projection from one analyst that said if UNC won its remaining 7 games, and that would include a W over dook, the Heels still would have only 44% chance to make tourny. I know it's just one projection and there are 1,000's out there, but damn.

Also that the loss at clemson in another projection dropped UNC from 80% chance of making it to under 20%.

Personally I have felt for two weeks they were not gonna make it.

While I agree that we are unlikely to make the NCAAT, I think we have a better chance than 20%.

Suppose we go 6-1 down the stretch. Plausible. That leaves us at 13-7 in the conference, probably tying us for 5th in the ACC.

Suppose we then go 2-1 in the ACC tourney. Again, plausible. That makes us 22-13 overall. Several teams made the tournament last year with records like that or worse. Wisconsin, for example had the identical record and got a 5 seed. Better conference, sure, but we're not looking for a 5 seed.

The Carolina name still commands eyeballs and sells tickets.

Lunardi currently only projects 3 teams from the ACC in the Big Dance - Duke, Louisville and Clemson. Fair enough. But SMU, Wake and UNC are among the "Last 4 Out."

We still have a shot - IF we take care of business. Some of the teams above us are bound to stumble. We need to do our bit and keep our fingers crossed.

Can we do our bit?
