Has Roy ever taken a JC player?
He's had at least one grad (Knox) and a couple of transfers from lower-rated colleges (Wes Miller and Luke Davis come to mind) and he's had invited walk-ons, but I can't recall anyone from a junior college.
This came to mind when I checked the 247 list of commits for the last few days. Imagine my surprise to see the #1 player going to Nevada:
Shawntrez Davis - PF 6-7 - 0.9100 Natl 1 Pos 1 St 1
Palm Beach State College (Lake Worth, FL) Committed: 9/6/2016
Now obviously Davis is not the #1 player. Coincidentally, that guy (DeAndre Ayton) also committed the same day.
As I'm sure is obvious, Davis is a JC guy and, according to 247, he's the #1 JC guy. At least that's how I'm reading that.
What's more interesting is the numerical rating they give him = .9100.
That numerical rating would put him around #160 in the 2017 class.
Obviously you can quibble over whether that #1 rating and the .9100 score are accurate. Who knows? But I wonder if that is generally the case - that the best JC players would typically fall in the mid-100 if rated with the HS players.
Anyone follow this?
