Late to the party I know but I just concluded a two month binge watch for this series.. All I can say is that it Spectacular. The acting, from every cast member, is off the charts. Cranston as Walter White is so good that words cannot describe . The writing, directing, camera work.... all of it is just the very best. BTW I thought Walter's wife was really really good and quite the MILF if you ask me.

I used to believe that Game of Thrones was the best thing I ever saw on TV ...heck we still have 1 year to go. But man oh man this BB is so good, so riveting and the story so real and told so well that it may be a toss up now between the two.
For those who have never seen Breaking Bad WATCH IT you will get hooked and love every minute of it.

You need to start watching Better Call Saul now. It's the prequel to Breaking Bad that follows the origins of Saul, Mike and Gus. Same writers and cast and I think it's even better than BB. I believe every season except for the most recent one is on Netflix. Last season just finished, so I'm not sure when it will start streaming.

I couldn't get past the first few horribly depressing episodes. I know, I know.

I was hooked from the opening tease. Awesome TV show. I find myself watching it over again as oppsoed to starting with a different show I haven't watched yet.

I have it as my personal favorite/best series of all time with The Sopranos and The Wire just behind. Just top notch in every aspect, acting, writing, directing, editing, all of it. One underappreciated aspect of the show's greatness: knowing how and when to end the series. Some great shows sometimes overstay their welcome, but Breaking Bad is not one of them. It told the story it wanted to tell, and it's better off for it, as opposed to something like Walking Dead.

Has anyone here viewed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? It is available via Amazon Prime. I think it has solid funny, clever writing, and an excellent cast, and good story line. Sort of around the 1950's timeline and in some ways similar to Mad Men in that regard. Its pretty good - not really viewing for children though.

It's "Marvelous" but yes, it's pretty good. Season 2 is supposed to be released soon.

It was a good series, but not better than the Sopranos. Just my opinion. I have no problem if anyone disagrees.

Though I disagree, I 100% get that point of view, and it's not an unpopular opinion. Like honestly, I think it's pretty much splitting hairs. I was reading TV the Book, and the writers ranked the greatest narrative US shows ever from 1 to 100, and they had a 5 way tie for first based on their scoring rubric, with both Sopranos and Breaking Bad in that tie. They ultimately ranked Sopranos higher at #2 and Breaking Bad at #5, and I said "Makes sense." and I would have said the same if they had flipped them.

Because I assume it will be a followup question, the five in the book that were in the tie, going from how those writers ranked them 1-5, were The Simpsons, The Sopranos, The Wire, Cheers, and Breaking Bad.

I will end both of you.

If you ever need a favor, anything, you let me know.

Two of the toughest looking avatars that show up on OOTB are held by @UNC '92 as Silvio Dante and @gteeitup as Al Swearengen. Is that the way you two look in real life?

To the original post, I finished watching the series straight through a few months ago. After the first season or so, I actually came on here and asked if it was worth finishing because it was kind of a downer. The board encouraged me to stick with it and I did and was glad I saw it through. In the end, the only character I really liked and was pulling for was Jesse, though I guess I liked Saul as well. Walter was just too far gone to pull for anymore, so I just watched him continue on his downward slide. I don't know how I'd rank it on all time favorites, but it's up there.

There are so many good series out now thanks to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Now, I'm watching Ozark (second season just ended) and it's pretty much every bit the downer that Breaking Bad was and it certainly doesn't mind killing off characters. If you've watched that series, you have to wonder if it's going to kill tourism in that area based on the type of people portrayed in the show. LOL.

My all-time favorite drama is still probably HBO's "Rome" but it was so expensive to make, it only made it two seasons. I'm partial to Roman history, though, so I'm sure that biases my opinion.

You should add Better Call Saul to your list of shows to watch since you've finished Breaking Bad.

I am about to finish a brief 4 hour documentary on Netflix called EVIL GENIUS about the guy who was murdered a few years back after he robbed a bank with a bomb strapped around his neck/ This is a true story based in Erie Pa and the main characters especially the woman at the center of the story are some of the most diabolical and manipulative people you will ever encounter. The woman is completely nuts, but you gotta watch it to appreciate how manipulative she was

I will, but I'll probably wait until it's run it's course and watch them all straight through, rather than finish a season and have to wait for it. They're still making new episodes of Saul, right?

Yeah, but they are bumping up against the BB timeline now so I suspect there will only be two more seasons max.
