And that opens the door wide for Ron Burton to return to Chapel Hill.

I will take that trade any day and twice on Sundays.

Like Warren, Burton coached for years at Air Force.

According to Gilmore he isn't going anywhere. Guess we'll see.
If he stays, there will be more pressure on him. Any time you are associated with a new job and don't leave, a mark is palced on you. Add that to the fact that he is the DL coach who failed to deliver close to big recruiting this year when the DL talent within 200 miles of Chapel Hill was so deep it was close to unbelievable, and Gilmore will be a mraked man in Chapel Hill.

Serious question...was Gilmore the lead recruiter for all those D-linemen? I don't have a clue.

No. The lead recruiter almost always is assigned by region/geography. But the position coach is always central.

For example, Disch served as lead recruiter FL (or most of it anyway). But any FL DL players would be be in close contact with Gilmore as well as Disch for obvious reasons.

The most admoted Dl coaches close out sigining players whose lead recruiter by region is another coach.

Gilmore may be best suited to coach a team in the mdwest.

If Coach Chizik has prepared to bring Ron Burton back to Chapel Hill, I will be very pleased.

Burton played for Crum, who remains our all time winningest coach, and coached at UNC under Brown. Linking those 2 eras could be important for our future. He spent half a career at Air Force, 'coachin' 'em up.' He knows how to develop talent to its best. And now he has some time under P{at Narduzzi, one of the 2 most acclaimed DCs of the past decade.
