VERY GOOD NEWS, now if we can get the same announcement from Justin !

If we get both these guys back I think we can make it a war vs duke for the ACC title and IMO could be a top 5 team (I think both we and duke would be top 5).

Man I am glad I kept my mouth shut about the rumors I heard in Charlotte NC 2 days ago!!! Good news!!! ;)

Rumors about Kennedy? I've never been so confused with a "early entry decision" in my life. What's with the speculation? I had as good of a chance as getting drafted as he did this year...maybe even next year unless there are major changes.

Justin is borderline - hopefully he comes back but that is at least a question mark. If he comes back to UNC, he's going to be an absolute monster this year. Kennedy...lmfao!

The kid doesn't get to vicariously live through a new group of players every year. He has one body, one career, and one life. Absolutely nothing wrong with trying to get as much information and advice as possible for such an important time in HIS life. We can comment on how we think things will work out without ridiculing a player we claim to support...one that we'd be over the moon to have commit to us today.

with his current skill set and easy going temperament there is no place in the nba for kennedy meeks. europe, sure, but nba? no. he did a great job developing his body, but developing an aggressive mentality (which all nba players have by necessity), would be a completely different person from the one we've seen. that would be wonderful, but i don't expect it to happen.

True story! Two days ago at work a guy claiming to be the assistant coach at West Charlotte High School said he talks to Kennedy daily. Claims Kennedy told him if he didn't make it in the draft no way he returns to UNC! Said to him and Roy don't get along very well.He said he would go overseas before he would return!!! So much for rumors!!! Cannot find him today to call him out!!

This was crucial to our success. Without KM, the interior depth would've been really bad especially considering how foul prone Hicks is.

If Sean May could convince him to come out very agressive ....Who knows? He could have a Sean May 05 year.:) Anyhoo...Welcome back Big Guy!

Not questioning you scoops but questioning the guy that told you that, hard for me to believe that Roy and Meeks get along so poorly and yet Roy stuck with him as a starter. I just don't believe Roy would have started him, foul prone as Hicks is, if Meeks and Roy were not getting along.

Yes Roy got on his butt a lot, Meeks, if I am being honest looked lazy at times. Now maybe that was the bone bruise injury but over the second half of the prior season he did as well look lazy in his play. Maybe his second year it was a lingering illness and maybe this past season it was lingering effects of the bone bruise, just saying it does not look good and neither last season nor this season did we hear any explanation for Meeks play other than the initial reasons given for games he was not able to play in. I have been wanting to see some official statement from either Roy or Meeks explaining these lingering issues that have stunted his last 2 seasons and I am still waiting.

I honestly do believe there were lingering health related issues in both of his last 2 seasons but there is a little part of me that feels maybe we would have been officially told of those and especially before the kid tested NBA waters. If I have this as a nagging concern then you know NBA scouts and GMs have it as well.

Making fun of Kennedy Meeks and/or mocking his talent will get your smart ass popped on this board before too long (jmho). Can't wait to see it happen in this case...

Facts are facts.

"Although I think the NBA was a long shot, I do think he is vital to UNC's success this year." - above

Happy KM is back. There was no serious title run without him returning. Big men are rare in college bball.

I am gonna word this carefully. Kennedy had a challenging season with the nagging injuries that derailed his initial desire to leave following this season. And yes, he has had his moments with Roy (as others have had from time to time), but the going-to-Europe thing was a BS rumor started by others (likely based on stuff they had heard about the above).
I know that Brice blowing up hiis Sr year helped get Kennedy's head right to come back... and I haven't confirmed this part yet, but I think the way Roy and the team had his back during his struggles was a factor as well.

He's vital to our frontcourt next year so it's good to have him back. Though JJ is the better overall player, in these particular circumstances he's more replaceable than Meeks.

I'm so pleased Meeks came back..in my opinion we needed him back more than JJ--I badly want JJ back too--thanks for being a true Tar Heel, Mr Meeks

I honestly feel getting JJ back is our big time key to next season. I say this because I strongly felt our best rotation was with JJ and Theo on the floor together with just one of our big men. You guys saw it, late season and post season, that rotation forged leads and expanded leads. Theo showed us excellent passing and defense, we matched up well with teams that went small to try to isolate our big men out in space. JJ and Theo were able to switch off a lot of those screen assignments stunting the effectiveness with the high screens.

Keep in mind, that was with Theo being a poor jump shooter and Marcus still struggling to make shots and Meeks getting much lower PT as well as Issiah in constant foul trouble. See my point, even with things not working smoothly, the small ball version we played worked really well, imagine those parts not being as broken next season?

Theo will shoot better, this is his first off season to be able to focus in on his shooting and that is his major point of focus this off season. Issiah will reduce the fouls, he is a starter now and he will understand that you have ot stay in the game rather than feel he has to come in and make something happen now, and Tony bradley is waiting in the wings when Brice does pick up foul trouble. I am telling you right now again, Kenny Williams will emerge this coming season as a knock down jump shooter and a lock down defender and may surpass the scoring average Marcus had last season. But replacing marcus is not going to be all on kenny, Nate/7th/Brob will help fill that void. Of course there is the rock solid warrior at the point in the form of Joel Berry.

That brings me to Meeks, I have to believe Meeks will now fully understand that his future rides on how he plays next season. I know Roy has talked to him, now he has NBA input that should serve as the wake up call of wake up calls, it literally is now or never for the big man to show. Now is the time for him to take the same level of dedication and hard work he put in to re-forming his body in to refining his game. Now is the time to work on things like a mad man, to find that next level that is inside waiting to emerge. I say he has to be better, I can't imagine him coming in to next season anything but strongly improved, showing a solid mid range game and playing with passion. It is IMO now or never for the kid, we will see what he is made of.

And if Jackson does return, I can't wait to see his improvement from soph to jr, I am thinking he could be outstanding, I think he can and we may see him take his game to yet another level and while I have no idea how good that can be I do know I want to see it if it happens. I think he has the ability to exceed Tatum (dukie) if he can get a bit stronger physically, I think he already exceeds Tatum as a jump shooter, Tatum finishes at the rim stronger thru contact right now.

ya see, the key to what I saw as our most effective line up is Jackson being able to be on the floor with Theo and that means JJ coming back is vital. With out JJ we have to see if Brob is ready for the wing to either play behind or with Theo. I know the Theo/JJ combination works, I think the Theo/Brob combination can work well to but I have not seen it work, I have seen what Theo and JJ in together can do.

well-said

There is really no one else in the world you'd want working with him. May will bring out the best in Kennedy.
True but ..... add a bit of Psycho T and Sheed to the workout mix this summer and Kennedy could be frightening!
