Would be cool to hear folks share one play each that they thought were huge last night in securing the win against a tough Maryland team. Although I know there were bigger plays in the game, I'm gonna call out the inbound lob to Hicks with 1 sec on the shot clock. I think that play really broke the spirits of the Terps and put the game in a spot where it was our for the taking with a little over 2 minutes to play and up 11 points.

Mine was when Jackson was a little out of control and slung the ball toward a
teammate as he was falling out of bounds. Jackson then stepped back in,
got the pass and laid it in. Seemed like things turned our way a little after that.

OK - as much as I (and others) give Joel James grief, I will freely admit, he is always hustling and working his butt off, and doing his best. He just doesn't have natural basketball instincts, knowledge, or God-given D1 skills to seem to fit effectively. But I applaud his effort and attitude.

So, I'll say a great play last night, when he set a perfect, still screen, and flattened Sally man because his teammates didn't care to talk to him.

I swear I saw Joel singing Eric Clapton after the play: "Lay Down Sally" :)

I agree with that. It's a play that dates back to Dean Smith and we have pulled it out at various times, but has not been as successful in recent years. The execution was friggin flawless --- from the back screens, to Hicks's cut, catch & finish, and JB's perfect lob pass. That play ain't easy to pull off --- the timing has to be perfect and you have no passing angle to work with. 1 second on the clock --- you can't come down with the ball, it has to be in one motion.

Maryland players looked like they just had their candy snatched from them :D

I thought Justin's 3 from the corner was huge..he's a steady dude..hustles his heart out, all these guys did last night..hard fought W against a team that will be in Houston

Berry Trey was huge, Jackson hit one shortly after that was as well, not sure I would pin point a single play as the key. More so it was they would hit a huge shot, often a trey and we would counter right back. IT was like a prize fight, hard shot after hard shot and you knew sooner or later the punches were going to take it toll on one of them but it seemed to just go on & on and neither wilted until the end. Both teams IMO showed remarkable mental tuffness, last few seasons in that situation we would have wilted but this very experienced group just refused to back down.

You can love one & done dominated programs if you like, both Ky & duke have shown that you can win big with superior talent but inexperience does tend to show itself in head to head slug fests and experience of being there and realizing that it isn't over is the benifit an experienced team can call on when things get tuff.

I saw UNC play with very strong mental tuffness, pretty much the same team we had last season that did wilt at times when things got tuff. Now hitting our free throws would have put the cherry on top for sure but you match a really good offensive team score for score until the other team wilts is an impressive thing and experience has given this team that. It is a bit like that last Natty team, we came close before but that team's experience ingrained a refuse to give in attitude in them that became very apparent in their NCAA title run. Not saying this team will match that but they sure served notice that maybe they can tuesday niight.

Lots of singular moments have already been mentioned and this is not one of those, but the way they rebounded on the defensive end in the crucial part of the game was extremely important. There were a few instances while rewatching it where a guy got a huge rebound and went up strong to do it.
