Cutting his list to 5 this weekend. Since we have an OV setup, we should be on it? For being a top 20 kid, his recruitment seems to be going under the radar.

Hopefully the visit is still on then, hopefully other site is right!

Yea, Watson canceled. Haven't seen anything on Wilkes canceling. I know some hate crystal ball, but UNC has his latest pick and at 25% even with the late entry

I know it all can all change with 1 commitment but in my opinion Carolina is in trouble. We can't even get most kids to visit much less commit. I'm talking about front court players to be specific.

Article from today doesn't mention any cancellations....

What in the heck, man.
I have never seen anything like this, with the playing time available, the proven development of big men, the Carolina brand, etc.
I seriously don't get it.

Is anyone even shocked by this?? The chances of us landing him were low to begin with. The immediate set up of the OV was nice, but didn't really seem to gesture that he had a high interest in UNC. Reminds me of Miles Bridges' recruitment for the most part.

Considering most have been clamoring for Big Men, this shouldn't really hurt us at all.

Any chance Roy feels really good about Randolph and views Randolph as playing some SF so he backed off Wilkes?

I think it was Wilkes that backed off us. Roy knew we sit very well with Randolph before he offered Wilkes . .

It wouldn't seem like Roy would back off after just jumping in. It wouldn't send a good message unless there was a character reason or something like.

He did cancel.

I know the Knox talk has been quiet for a while but we're still very much in that are we not?

I honestly do not think we are really in it for Knox, not unless we are looking for a 3rd place finish. Look, the kid really wants to be considered a wing, he wants to be more of a outside guy than inside the paint guy, he loves the tag of being the next Kevin Durant. Yet, I wonder at times how Tar Heel fans see him, do you feel like if he commits to us that we are getting a power forward or a wing because it would be more a wing. He wants to be recruited as a wing, he has been pretty clear about that.

We have Justin and Theo as wings and BOTH have 2 more seasons of eligibility, maybe Justin leaves after next season but there is no guarantee that he will, only the speculation that he will. Even if he does there is still Theo and our strong need is for inside the paint big fellas, very questionable if Knox fills that need even if we were to get him and getting him is not a bet I would make. Chance to get him, yeah OK, but how much is that chance, IMO it is less than 10%. I think we have a better chance with Bamba and I don't love our chance there, not sure I love our chances with PJ either, we may actually be better with Vanderbilt than any other 5 star big.

Just my opinion folks but don't be shocked if we end up with Stokes and Huffman as our bigs from this class and no offense to either of those kids (raw talents that are what I would call projects) but that is a far cry from a class of 5 star book end big men.

If Knox is in no hurry, the questions about Justin and Theo will be answered.

I assume Justin is leaving and Theo is staying. But is Theo staying as SF or SG? He could be either. Or he could be a perpetual 6th man playing multiple positions. Only if Theo locks down the SF start for his senior year would Knox be scared off.

Here's another doom and gloom thought for those who like to worry....

Suppose Tony is really good as a freshman. Suppose he looks at the 2017 class and realizes "hey, I'm going to be the only big on the team!"

Does he see that as a challenge where he can stand out and returns for his soph season to strut his stuff? Or does he see that as a season where he will be the chronic target, always double and triple teamed, and won't be able to improve his draft status?

Actually, if it came down to it, I would pitch Knox on being our wing and moving Theo to the 4 as a starter. Think about it, say we were to get Knox and Stokes, I would rather we started BOTH Theo and Knox but have Theo at the 4 with Knox and Theo able to switch screens much like Theo and Justin showed us late last season. That way we could bring Stokes along slower to back up Tony and have Luke to back up Theo.

I will ALWAYS prefer 2 big men in the game together but sometimes ya got to do what ya got to do. I personally felt we played better from our small ball look in the NCAAT than we did with 2 big men on the floor.
