Conference play is no joke. Appreciate every win regardless of who the opponent is.
And to teams their fans probably think they "should have beaten". That's why I laugh when our fans say we "should be 12-0 going into the dook gàme". Conference play is a whole different animal.

As I mentioned on another thread, tough times in conference. Better be ready 'cause most of the conference will beat ya on any given game day. Tough times OOC too. Just ask the three from last night. I'm guessing ISU will fall out of the top 25 now.

Roy hates mooou just like a lot of us. If it's possible to get em fired up for that game Roy will.
With all that carnage, we could be #3 if we close the deal on Saturday! With the hatred Roy has for our baby brothers, I expect a fired up team that hits the ground running. If our intensity is what I think it will be, we should be just fine.
For the Record: I said COULD (and good chance) not SHOULD for the 12-0 thing, a pretty significant difference, no?

Yeah, that's why I said earlier that while this team is capable of running the table, don't be surprised if we drop one we shouldn't and one that's expected to be tough.

I am even more interested in how our Bigs play. To be honest their Bigs out-hustled and out-muscled ours last year. I'm anxious to see if our guys' new-found intensity and toughness shows out Saturday.
I also have the feeling this is a game when our 3-men have a field day.

When K retires, Duke will fall off the map in basketball (can you say "lack of succession plan" ??) and the Carolina-Duke game will finally be one we can win regularly again.

Dean owned K's rodent a$$, and although he would never say so publicly, he had a special loathing of dook (and the Rat's rule-bending style).
One of my few critiques of Roy is that he has let too many dook games get away from him (including both of last season's games). I think it's obvious that Roy's State-hate transfers onto our players --- a little more dookie-despising might go a long way....
No question about that. Of course, last year, it wasn't Roy who let it get away in Durham. If Kennedy doesn't make that errrr "ill-advised" down-the-court heave off that in-bound, we don't blow that lead. Period. Awful decision on that one.
well yeah..... but if Roy doesn't take the ball out of JB's hands down the stretch that's likely a moot point.
Valid point. But IMO, the struggles against Duke have been more about individual player brain farts than coaching. Another example besides the Kennedy failed inbound is big Tyler Zeller. Love that guy but he knows dang well (and admitted it immediately after during post-game interviews) that he just cannot bite on Rivers' fake there. A two-point shot does not lose you the game!!! a 3 does. Big Z was 7'0'' -- if he doesn't retreat backwards for a fraction of a second, he stuffs Austin's shot and "Carolina Victory" blares through the arena.

I said "should" be 12-0 and will stick with it. The Heels will be favored in every game and they should win. Several on the board thought Cuse would beat us. If the Heels loose a game they are favored to win, then I will be critical of them. This is not year to fool around. No excuses (other than a injury to a key player). Must get the #1 seed in the East.
I think this is one of the most deepest teams Roy has had. IMO we will have to not show up to get beaten by any team other than Dook and I think we can beat them at our best and at there best. But those away conference games can sneak up on you if your not focused. I can see us going 12-0, 11-1 or 10-2 in conference play.

In a year where the Heels were the consensus pre-season #1 team in the country I have no problem projecting a 12-0 start in the ACC. Bilas has said it in every TV game that the Heels are the best in the country. Sure, the Heels could trip up and lose one of the next 8 games but there is no doubt that they will be favored in every game. Thus, if they are favored why shouldn't we I expect them to go 12-0? Why does this year have to be the same as past years when the Heels lost some unexpected games on the road? Can it be that the Heels have a really good team this year compared to past years? It is easy for fans to say things like " I'n afraid of this game and I thing Cuse will win, but I'm hope I'm wrong". If the Heels lose a game they are "favored" to win, then I will criticize them regardless of my prediction. My prediction has nothing to do with how they play on the floor. I wish fans would stop the excuses and stop the caveats. Many may let the Heels off the hook this year. Not me...not this year. Need to kick some buttts and, at minimum, make it to the Final Four. I said before the Florida State game that the Heels would lock of the #1 seed in the East if they won that game. I still think they have it wrapped up. I expect them to win the games they are favored to win.

Well again, this bunch is thoroughly capable of winning out, and I won't be shocked if they do... but a couple of losses as I described along the way would be less surprising --- but hardly fatal to a regular season ACC title.
I can't name one team that won every game they were favored to win since IU's undefeated season. There's only a handful of teams that have come close and we're not in their league talent wise. Still, we're quite good in a relatively down year.
We've already lost two that we were favored in, so we won't be joining IU this year. There's always next year to hope for though, but no printing 40-0 shirts until afterwards unlike a certain other fanbase we know.
The secret in securing a #1 seed is going on a long winning streak while other top teams are losing a game here or there. The Heels should beat the Woofies on Saturday and will probably be ranked #2 in the country on Monday. To stay there they need to continue winning with no bumps in the road over the next few weeks.
