Kudos to BYU

Liberty cancelled its game at Coastal Carolina, and BYU jumped in to play the game, allowing Coastal to host a match up two ranked unbeaten teams.

BYU lost on the last play of the game. BYU completed a pass but Coastal DBs were in position to make the hit short of the goal line. The tackle was fundamentally sound, and the BYU receiver was down at the 2.

BYU playing that game, across the country, on very short notice is what CFB is supposed to be about.

I caught some of the game channel surfing that night, and it was a whale of a game. Kudos to BYU for taking on all comers, but bigger congrats to Coastal for their win. A great group of players with a special season to enjoy and remember for a long time.

BYU had the huge disadvantage of very late cross-country travel. But Coastal also had to prepare a new game plan in 1 day and try to get the team on board with it. So I am very impressed with both staffs. I think that because Coastal adjusted almost perfectly at the Half, a lot of ADs will see Jamey Chadwell as a prime candidate for HC. If Beamer fails to get out of the gate, a bunch of SoCar fans may be chanting to replace him with Chadwell.
