What do you guys have planned for the long weekend? I'm stuck at the store but the week after next I will be spending a week in Ocracoke. Can't wait..

Tomorrow morning I'm building a dog fence with the Humane Society of Charlotte. When I get home in the afternoon I might throw some ribs on the smoker if I can get an assist from @UNC '92. I'll spend the rest of the day watching college football woo hoo!

Sunday evening I'm taking my Little Brother to the US National Whitewater Center to scope it out (he's never been) and catch a couple free concerts, including Robert Randolph & the Family Band.

Monday, I got nothing. I really need to re-sand my back patio so maybe I'll get started on that.

To say that I am hurt that my thread didn't get any more replies than did is putting it mildly.

Sorry PR . .

I've been peeling red potatoes this afternoon, for my wife is making a potato salad for tomorrow night's dinner at my SIL's . .

Dinner and a night of cards for 3 couples tomorrow evening . .

Tar Heel football . . and lots of good food.

Sunday is Church and laying low.

Monday is cook-out day . . gonna do a pork tenderloin and a rack of ribs.

I was supposed to leave for SoGa this morning. Then work intervened...then work went nuts. Plus a hurricane/tropical storm decided to show up.

Monday morning we strike out for Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge 'til Friday.

BillyL did you make your annual stop at Wilber's this year?

Not yet, PR . . wife and I are headed to Topsail on the 17th . .

Missed it entirely last year, so, I'm really looking forward to this trip in 2 weeks.

We will be leaving for Ocracoke Sept. 11th.

Next week will be the longest week for ya, the week before vacation always seems to drag by . . which route do you take to get to Ocracoke from Yadkin Valley . .?

I do hope you have great weather and a fantastic week, PR . .

This year we will be going to Swan Quarter ferry to Ocracoke
and take the Ocracoke to Cedar Island ferry back home. That is when we stop at Wilber's. On Sunday they have chicken gravey and chicken livers to go with the bbq. I know that sounds gross to some. but it works for me.

Deeelish . . I grew up eating chicken livers and gizzards.

They put some of their bbq sauce in the gravey. God I could live on that stuff. How do you come down from VA?

Wifey and I had some of their chicken gravy a couple years back . . . OH Lordy, was that stuff so good. I loved it with their hush puppies . .

We're I-95 southbound and get off at exit 119, 70 by-pass, into Goldsboro, route 11 then 258, 24S-258 and then route 17 if I am remembering correctly.

Its about 4 hours to Wilbers for us, and then after lunch, its an hour & 45 minutes into Topsail . . all in all, itsa pretty easy trip for us.

We have spent the weekend on the Pamlico River near Washington, NC. Friday was major ugly and had really high water Friday night. We had spent part of the day Friday taking our pier apart so the storm would not and it was good that we did. Saturday was kind of hit and miss with some rain, some sun, some really low water, and then high again. Today, Sunday, has been gorgeous. We had some friends and family come down and got the pier put back together. Just watched a beautiful sunset and cannot describe how pretty the sky is right now. So, all in all, turned out alright (except for the damn ball game).

Glad the weather cooperated for at least part of the time. We got back from Wrightsville yesterday and are headed over to Washington this afternoon for some grilling and probably some crabs caught off the pier - my stepmother (man that still sounds weird) has had a couple of banner months with string, chicken, and a net.

@prlyles . . hey PR, safe travels this upcoming wknd. Looks like you've got great weather on the horizon, if you get a chance, give us hard working OOTBers a poast from the coast when you are able.
