Last year's team would've lost today

We played an ugly, ugly game today, no doubt about it. We did some good things, but overall it was our B- or C+ game instead of our A game.

However, we showed excellent poise, mental fortitude, and team unity to tough this one out today. It was just one of those games where nothing would go our way....penalties, unforced errors, turnovers, stalled drives, settling for 3 and not 7, etc. But despite all that, this team found a way to claw and scratch out a victory. I truly think today's game was one previous Heels teams would've found a way to lose. But this year's team stays focused and doesn't panic.

I'm distressed about all the mistakes we made today, but I continue to be impressed with the perseverance and determination of this team. Thoughts?

Yes, there is going to be a game or two like this every year. Play sloppy. Good teams win the games, bad teams lose them. UNC managed to win this. Could be a season turning win. UP next, Pitt!

It was an ugly game in many respects. We committed too many penalties, several of which were simply uncalled for. Quise threw a terrible interception. The referees were high on crack or something once again. Despite all this, we did indeed maintain our composure to pull out the win. I said at the half that our defense was going to have to raise their game up in the second half if we were going to win. And they did that in spades!

Yesterday's games demonstrated that just about any team in the league can beat any other team in the league on a given day. Clensum appears to be the cream of the league but there are several pretty doggone good teams right behind them in ND, UNC, Pitt, and d00k. Can't wait to see how this season plays out. Really looking forward to the Thursday night tilt with Pitt!
