...and I'll make this very quick.

- Let's get this outta the way: What a lame zebra crew. I've seen these jabronies more than I care to in local games down here --- sure hope we don't get them again in Maui.

- OK... so, I liked the effort and the fact we took a trap game serioiusly, BUT... very lazy on seeing man-and-ball in the 1st half, especially by our 4/5 guys. Fortunately, that improved MARKEDLY in the 2nd.

- Still frustrated watching our Zone Offense. JWash in particular should be a weapon in the 10-12 ft areas.

- On the other hand, JWash was a different player in the 2nd half on defense and rebounding. Really stepped up vs their bulky Big. Also liked the delayed doubles we deployed.

- Much better tonight on not forcing in transition (kudos to Seth for giving up the rock), all the while we were being appropriately aggressive taking it to the rack and running after made shots.

- Want to see more Tyson, and earlier.

- RJ played much more in the flow this time.

- Finally, any more questions as to who drives this team? The difference when EC being in or not is, well, striking. He is exactly what I told y'all he was when we signed him.

Anyway, good warm-up for the most loaded Maui Invitational field ever. Hopefully we come outta the gate a tad stronger Monday and keep the intensity going...

Someone needs to talk to whoever is responsible for keeping the official stats. Cadeau has been screwed out of his assist total in every game this year.

Rebounding and reaching in fouls are definetely areas that needs to be addressed in tomorrows practice

RJ passed up a lot of good looks from the outside.

IMO Ian and Drake needed more playing time in the second half. RJ should have sat for another 5-7 game minute’s tonight

Withers was so frustrated tonight that it affected his whole game on both sides of the ball. He alone took himself out of the game mentally. He had a terrible game all the way around.

Besides finding teammates with nifty assists, Elliot’s drives to the basket are the aspect of
his game that make him unique. Right hand, left hand; it doesn’t matter, he’s getting to that rim.
Seth has been so steady and effective on both ends of the floor that he’s becoming indispensable.

RJ had a great game, which is our expectation after watching him in his fifth season.
He probably won’t surpass Psycho T on the all-time scoring list, but it won’t be for lack
of effort. He is a five-star baller, full stop. Both Capt. Jack and Drake are dynamic athletes
and deserve more time on the floor and Cade was very effective; he’s figuring things out. 😁
Jalen’s role on the team needs to expand offensively by getting him jump shots along the
baseline.

The rebounding differential kept the Rainbows in the game; that’s an area of concern for the rest
of the Maui trip and needs to be addressed. Hubert is utilizing a variety of lineups to highlight
our depth and wear down the opposition. It is our biggest strength and affords us our best chance to
be successful this season.

EC is ELITE! The Heels are so much better when he is on the floor.

I love how aggressive EC, Seth, RJ, Ian are attacking the rim and getting to the line. We've seen so many teams do that to us over the years that its wonderful to see when its the Heels being the aggressor.

Hawaii had some nice players, but dang we shouldn't be getting outrebounded by 13 (15 - 5 on the offensive glass!). Hopefully JWit was just in a body clock funk or something, and will look better in the Maui.

EC, EC, EC. That dude is a bad, bad man. He is becoming a force in transition. Distributor, enforcer, and attacker. I really hoped we’d get another year from him but it’s looking less and less likely as the season progresses.

The refs for this game...absolutely awful, folks come to and watch these games to see the players play not refs working out their whistle tweets. If you go by the letter of the rule book you can call a foul on basically EVERY single possession and it seemed like last night they tried to prove that, touch foul call after touch foul call on BOTH teams. If we had a NCAA worth their pay checks this would be handled but it won't be.

As for the rest of the game, the portion where the refs allowed the players to play, went as I expected, could tell the time difference was a problem for us, like we were a half a step slower than normal. Didn't expect us to jump shoot great.l I felt RJ played his best game so far, he was much more in the flow of the offense, don't recall his forcing a bad shot, good to see.

There is a radical difference in this team between when Cadeau is on the floor and when he isn't, it is like night and day. Him in the game the pace instantly ramps up, all the sudden we get lay ups and dunks, and a LEAD! Jack looked good last night, he may have been our only guard who didn't seem effected by the time difference or the long flight time. Drake, love his game but for right now he seems to be playing at 59mph where maybe at times he needs to be at 55mph (meaning he is still rushing a little bit), form on his jumper is to nice to keep on missing those jumpers.

I think between the time difference and the long flight, body clock, refs quick whistles, JWash and JWit seemed a little off their games, especially JWit. Lubin, once again, solid/effective blue collar minutes. I did want to see James Brown for some of those minutes where we had Claude in. Seth to me looked a little bit off as well but his being so wiling to drive really stresses a defense.

WE need to figure out how to play against a zone, we now have on tape that we have struggled with zones in a couple games so that means we will begin to see a lot more zone played against us. The solution I see is that Jwash has to step to the middle soft spot and be ready and willing to pull the trigger on that jumper with JWit charging the short corner.

As the poor announcers did share, this game should be good for us, should allow us to acclimate to the time difference better than other teams that did not have a warm up game. Hopefully we will have a good practice tomorrow, we did not have a good practice prior to this game last night.

The best way I can compare is like playing in your local rec league. You couldn’t set a screen, you couldn’t pump fake, you couldn’t play defense.

Anybody who didn’t stay up to watch, I highly discourage watching it because it was ugly as all hell.

FT shooting continues to be an over all positive.

Hubert can look in the mirror for the reason for a crappy first half as there was absolutely no reason to keep EC on the bench that much in the first half as everyone on that team benefits from the experience and PT they get together (with him). Cade got some decent run but like G said he could have stood a little more.

UNC has got to Wash more involved offensively !!! DGAF how or where but a better effort needs to be made in that aspect.

This team has some quality depth but .... what and who make up the best rotations is still a project. Drake, Cap and Cade are still climbing the learning/comfort curve and I bet this team will look a lot more polished with hopefully a tighter and more predictable rotation after Christmas.

Rebounding just plain sucked.

Any win is a good win but one on the road is a bonus. GO HEELS !

And BTW, EC's 5 (not 4) Assists:
(1st half)
*Skip-pass to RJ for 3
(2nd half)
*Roll dime to JWash for layup
*Cross-court to Seth for 3
*Fast-break ahead to Seth for dunk-and-1
*Transition sideline pitch-ahead to Tyson for 3

Loved watching EC from the start. I smile when they fastbreak with EC with the ball. If stays three or four years will become my second favorite player ever. He has not shot in hates of becoming my favorite. That gazelle from Gastonia will live in my head forever until my passing.
