Big man now has an offer. His dad played for Roy so you gotta think Carolina has a good chance here.

A Big who can shoot from outside forces Ds to stretch in ways they would prefer not to. If he can hit the 18 foot shots, and especially if he can hit 3s, then Roy needs him.

I like this kid. Very raw but the kind of kid who can be a great 4 year player once he matures.

His Dad, Pekka, wasn't too bad, the genes sure help.

ol' wide net Roy...

I love this kid. I love the fact that he hasn't grown up being ruined by AAU ball. I like the idea of having a European player on the team. And from what I've seen, I wouldn't use the word "raw" to describe him. I think he's a very solid prospect. He seems like the same kind of player as SKJ - a stretch 4. But I think he's stronger than SKJ and more college ready.

He's raw. He hasn't played on the highest levels for his age group and his skills will still need to improve to translate to ACC basketball. Raw is not just a super athletic kid like we're used to here in the states.

Yeah, I agree, I love the notion of Roy looking to bring in international players, really miss that from us for the last several years. While I do enjoy the AAU stuff at times, I really do not think it is the best thing for these kids to play so much and just not have the time to work on skill training, like putting up a few hundred jumpers a day, putting the time in the weight room, ect. They simply play to many games, if they are not in a tourney they are traveling to one, I think it is just to much.

On this kid, I agree, from all I can see he looks very skilled for his age and position. Of course, he needs to spend time in the weight room but the kid can effect a game now with his face up shooting and can do that out to distance, I see him as a SJK with a upgrade, no offense to SJK intended. That is kinda the thing with euro players, they are taught fundementals and they drill on them to develop skill from an early age, they don't play as many games. You don't have to work as hard to teach them basic fundementals as college freshmen as you do kids from the states so they can tend to be productive sooner rather than later. The way Roy wants to play IMO kinda fits the euro model better than it does the AAU model, he is more about teaching his system and developing fundementals than he is about rolling the ball out and letting his guys go one on one.

Kid has mentioned that playing among the western hemisphere kids was a bit more physical than he was accustomed to in Europe.
I likes the wide net, keep fishin' Roy, reel 'em in...

I think his current coach (Mottola) played for Utah under Majerus . .

AAU basketball is indeed a nasty business that warps many young players.
