Hi Deana, I was sorry to hear about your mom, she was a fine lady. A friend you trust should help you determine if you need a lawyer or not. That would be your first step.

Sorry to hear about your parents. You should talk to an estate lawyer about your next steps. Most of them will give you a free consultation. Your situation is a little unique since they passed away so close together and can make things more complicated. I would take @UNC71-00 up on his offer to give you some contact info for the guy he knows.

My wife is dealing with a mess from her dad passing away. I wish you the best.

And btw, for all u ootb’ers, make a will. My father in law didnt and to make matters worse he evidently promised certain things to various kids in his final days. Trucks, jet skis, a boat, four wheeler, guns....Now everyones pissed at each other cause noone wants to take anyone’s word for it. Which u cant blame them for.
