Leaky at the 4 spot.

Even the worse of Black critics had to be impressed with his overall game yesterday. It is ironic that people are so quick to criticize but turtle like slow to praise a player.

he played decently I don’t think I have an issue saying when he plays well. The issue is his ceiling relative to the playing time he gets and what he consistently brings to the table, which is often much less than even yesterday and certainly not conducive to a typical Unc level starter on a contender.

He played well yesterday. He showed some of the spring and quickness that tantalized me in the georgia tech game his freshman year. He was way up in the air on the blocked shot against georgia tech that resulted in the sprained ankle. Last year, he deflected lots of passes against a very quick Alabama team. Then it was reported that he had turf toe. Yesterday, he looked athletic again

1-5today, 38%fg, 22%3pt and 5 points average in nearly 30 minutes won’t even get you a contract to play in Turkey! Dude’s got to improve his shooting and in a hurry. We need the Black from the Miami game to show up every night!

Points are not the only story why Black got so much playing time yesterday. What about 7 rebounds, 4 assists and basically shutting FSU lottery pick Scotty Barnes down in the second half. Case given, case closed...

And if you check Theo's numbers during his Jr year, Leaky's numbers are better in most categories.

Theo JR year: 10.3 points / 40, 45%/24%/70% shooting line, 7.8 Reb / 40, 6.2 assists / 40, 2.5 TO / 40, 1.4 St / 40, 0.3 Bl / 40

Leaky JR year: 8.3 points / 40, 44%/23%/69% shooting line, 7.7 Reb / 40, 3.7 assists / 40, 1.9 TO / 40, 1.7 St / 40, 0.5 Bl / 40

Not really. Theo scored two more points per 40 on slightly higher percentages (he also improved a lot as a senior offensively). More importantly, he had near double the assist rate, partly because Theo's a better penetrator. Leaky is a more disruptive defender, though I think Theo did a better job defending quicker guards.

Downside with Leaky at the 4 is it negates UNC's biggest edge - 4 quality post players that Roy can rotate. If UNC had consistent outside shooting besides Walton it could work for a short time but playing small only is effective when you can spread the floor for have guards penetrate or hit from deep. Neither of those have been anything the Hels could rely on this season.

Yes only in stretches.

But that big 4man rotation is killing us on defense against decent shooting teams.

It's ok adjust at times.
