Leaky Black signs 2-way deal with Charlotte Hornets

I know everyone's saying this due to the proximity, but not a whole lot of evidence that says the Hornets organization is the perfect place for any NBA player.
It's been reported he had multiple two way offers, so Leaky liked the fit?
Maybe. But the organization has been a tire fire for a while now. Maybe they'll give Leaky the best shot to play early. But if he got multiple offers, I would bet there's a culture that's much better than Charlotte's.
Best of luck to him though. Hopefully he gets a legitimate opportunity and takes advantage of it.
or the money? It would be a draw (albeit a minor one) to have a local and a Tar Heel guy on the team. Maybe that was worth a little more money to the Hornets.
Or maybe he just likes being close to home. Maybe we should just ask him when the opportunity arises.

I think all of the two way contracts get half of the minimum rookie deal. A bit over a half a million a year. 555,000 or there abouts if I read correctly.
He may get some or keep some local NIL like deals in North Carolina though, possibly outside of the two way contract?
I looked it up 551,465 for two way contracts equaling half of the minimum rookie salary.

I don't know for sure, but I do not think they are. I think only 1st round picks are guaranteed. You can be let go and replaced, but then any other team can claim you I think if they want to use a two way on you. The salary is just set for all two way deal guys, I'm fairly sure not all teams use all their two ways either.
I also think it's like the NFL/MLB they only get checks weekly during the season not spread out throughout the year. Have to be on the two way status during the season.
I have a hard time not loving any player who chooses to represent us here. But there are certain ones that when you see them on the court or on the field, you get that especially strong Tar Heel feeling, and you're extra proud to have them representing. That's the feeling I get with Leaky.
I agree! Leaky is a born Tar Heel and one of my all time faves! His leadership and example will pay dividends for years!
