LSU is going to have a hard time doing much better than Miles
Well, we're screwed. Pack pride already said last week that they were going to get him. Now they are going to be a national power.
Les to UNC as a consultant? His son is already here and LSU has to pay him for what 2 more years? I am sure being near his son wouldn't be a drawback. He could relax a while.
Just another opinion, but Jimbo can write his own check in Tallacrappy, so the incentive to leave and go to LSU is what? That fan base that overwhelmingly supports coaches like Les? Um, no, if I'm Jimbo and can work it, I'd stay until retirement at FSU.

I agree but the media doesn't want to let his name go. Does he have connections to LSU? It seems to me the FSU job is as good as any.
Twitterverse is abuzz with fedora to lsu chat. Had to see that coming though. His name pops up with every opening it seems. Would be a big promotion for him though.
I would hate to see that happen. If it did, I wonder if Bubba would turn to Chizik or elsewhere?
I dont know if chancellor would sign off on chizik. I'm sure lsu has three or four names ahead of fed. But if they start running out of options they'll open the checkbook and pay off any contract.
LSU boosters are old fashioned SEC football men. They think D first, and often 2nd as well. Yes, Fedora would be opposite Miles, and many times schools do that, but I can't see many LSU boosters comfortable with a coach whose Ds have performed as ours have.
Those LSU guys would figure that if Fedora has Chizik for 2 years and still has a lousy D, that he then might never have a chance to win the SEC West.
Do not forget that Orgeron is a native Louisianan. And he did a bang up job as interim for SC. He has been a top assistant at various schools, and he has SEC HC experience.
If LSU cannot come to terms quickly with someone like Herman, and Orgeron does what he did at SC, then the odds are good he gets the job.
Why is that funny? Chizik has an NC to his reseme as an HC,kiffin can't make that claim.
In my opinion the one silver lining to our defense not being better is the fact that Chizik likely sticks around longer. As of right now he hasn't done anything with our defense as DC that would warrant a head coaching offer.
I don't think we have to worry about schools knocking down Fed's door at this point. He's still got a ton to prove before he's ready to assume the reins of a major football program. If he made some of the game management faux pas at LSU that he routinely makes here, they'd run him out on a rail.
I'm not so much curious about where our guys head (I'm sure Chizik or Fedora will be on their way after this year, especially if we win the Coastal again) I'm MORE interested in where Miles lands! I mean USC may have an opening if Helton can't get it together, but I'm terrified this guy ends up in the ACC like Richt.
It's not out of the question that he may not want to coach again. He's almost 63 and LSU still owes him about $13M. He could make a few bucks on TV and not have to deal with the pressure anymore.
Another thought... He may not get offers from the kind of places where he'd like to coach. Some of the bigger schools looking to replace their coach may not want a guy his age that stubbornly sticks to his old school philosophy.

Eh, I'm sure Miles has jaywalked or something similar in the past that would have Folt disqualify him as an option to volunteer.
I certainly don't see why. Our defense has been pretty awful and Fed has a long way to go to merit consideration from a more prestigious program. OMO. both should be content where they are right now.
As an outsider looking in, I dont think Chizik goes anywhere because his job at UNC isnt close to being done. I know $ talks but I still think he stays. Recruiting is picking up for UNC and he is building quality and depth on that side ... he just needs to get more DT's / DE's and I think things change for your run D. Just my 2 cents 
I think LSU was dumb for firing Les ... I think he should have finished out the season. But the coach who took over, Ed O, is a good coach who is from LA ... he will have them playing pretty hard for the rest of the year which is good because Im hoping they can ... somehow ... beat BAMA & UF ... or maybe one of them.

I think we got Chizik for maybe another year. If the D takes off next season and the offense is still winning 9-10 games Chizik is gone. I think he goes back to the SEC.. maybe Tenn in a year or two if Butch doesn't last.
