ACC I believe has the best record in the bowl games at 8-3.

Let's get to 9-3 and show that the ACC is the best football conference this year!

How overrated was the Big 10? Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State all flamed out. So much for being so tough!

This place will be insufferable.

FSU just won one. If Clemson wins a natty, we'll never be able to get a recruiting foothold.
So the only way for us to get better is for the rest of our conference to suck? No thanks.

A rising tide lifts all boats. The Heels are done for this year, I don't mind rooting for the league. Far better than 'Bama winning again.

No lol. The conference can be good, but our DIRECT GEOGRAPHICAL AND HEAD-TO-HEAD RECRUITING RIVAL being good and winning a national championship doesn't really help us get better.

FSU or Miami or GT winning a natty is A LOT different than Clemson winning one, as far as how it impacts Carolina directly.

Would we win recruiting battles against Clemson if they lost this game? I doubt it.

Maybe with a win they can get even better recruits - so that by default, their scraps that we pick up on the recruiting trail would be better.

Plus getting the ACC more credit moving forward would be nice, so that maybe we'd get the benefit of the doubt if we're ever seriously considered for a playoff spot down the line.

The ACC doesn't need more credit. It's been seen as the #2 or #3 league in the nation for the past two seasons. What the ACC does need is a school not named Clemson or FSU to make a serious playoff berth push . . . i.e., finish in the Top 6.

And as for if we'd beat Clemson in a recruiting battle if they lose tonight, well.... it certainly couldn't hurt if they lose. Clemson (and FSU) are the teams standing in our way right of being a playoff berth (because we'd have to beat one of them in an ACCCG to make it to a playoff) so I'm not sure why you'd want Clemson to earn the ultimate prize. They did their part and represented the ACC in the playoff and beat the shit out of tOSU. Now they need to lose.

I hate everything about the SEC from the Coaches to the fans to the Media-bias that we all have to listen too every single season....I despise that conference in every way, thanks to ESPN, CBS and all the other SEC Homers who sing their praises every single year, and am glad to see them get brought down a notch or two whenever possible...

If the ACC is going to be a player in this whole new playoff concept, ACC teams are going to have to claim some National Titles, and this is as good a chance as they might have for a while, so go Clemson!

ACC....ACC....ACC....!

And yes, the B1G was way over-rated this year, and the Bowl Games/Playoffs proved that to be true!

If I wasn't such a big Tar Heel fan, I would be a Clemson Football fan since the school is within an hour drive from my house, and they seem to do things the right way since Dabo took over the program!

Does UNC have a tough recruiting road ahead with Clemson winning the way they are?.....Yeah they do, but Alabama, Ohio State, FSU and others can come in and cherry pick the best talent in this state too if they desire to do that, so I would rather have kids going to ACC schools rather than the SEC...

To be the best, you've got to beat the best, and right now Clemson is the best football program in the ACC, and that is unlikely to change as long as Dabo stays, and keeps his coaching staff in place....Not rooting for them in the title game, is not going to change that perception anytime soon....It is what it is!

Go Clemson beat Goliath!

tarheelnation11 is correct, clemson winning would suck for carolina all the way around.
but the chicken fans would be suicidal and that appeals to me strongly.
go tigers.

Exactly. Clemson only has 25 freshman roster spots each year and they're hardly the only team we're competing for with recruits. UNC's program needs to make itself a more desirable place to play, not root for other schools to falter. That's the kind of loser attitude you'd expect to hear from Moo fans.

ACC winning the championship and the ACC going 9-3 in bowls can only help the whole conference recruit. If the SEC is knocked down a notch, we benefit. Alabama and Florida have helped recruiting across their conference.

LOL whatever Bro Biden. Clemson winning a natty does not help Carolina turn itself into an attractive place to come play ball. Especially since Carolina doesn't get a recurring chance to play Clemson, so you can't even sell that to recruits.

Yeah.......it'll help schools like Syracuse, BC, and Virginia recruit. It won't help Carolina close its targets, most of which are also Clemson targets.

Example 1: Dexter Lawrence
Example 2: Justin Foster
Example 3: Dax Hollifield (probably)

Shall I continue?

Correct. The outcome of this game will have virtually no effect on Carolina recruiting. We were losing recruiting battles to Clemson long before they were even Clemsoning. You need to stop acting like Clemson losing this game is somehow a benefit for Carolina. It's not.

Clemson winning this game isn't a benefit for Carolina. I think there's not really any affect TBH. Clemson making it this far twice in a row has already done the damage.

or realists.
we need all of the help we can get.

I don't think it helps that much with recruiting, but it does certainly help with TV contracts and the like. Dont you think if the ACC won 5 of the next 6 championships it raises the value of the league? That directly leads to more money for UNC relative to teams in every other conference.

Yes, but it's still interesting to know which result is more beneficial for UNC. I feel more invested in games where I know which side I want to win.

Amazing game - congrats to both teams. Happy for Dabo since he seems to have a genuine desire for his players to be successful in life!

I'm not speaking of Fedora, but the coaches before him refused to come past Charlotte, to recruit, for the most part. Look at all the talent on display in Cleveland County, year in and year out. Even Rutherford County (Watkins). Clemson was the first team to offer Justin Foster, that means a lot to a kid. How can Clemson be the first in on a kid from North Carolina? Granted, Justin wants to be an engineer, so UNC was most likely not his destination, but still. The Crest kids usually go to Florida, Spikes, Bullard, and the like.

Dabo, locked down South Carolina , a lot of Georgia, and he robs Florida continually. He has shown the blue-print for building a program. Plus it helps that their community and University is all in with football. They will reap the benefits for years to come. I long to see UNC play big time meaningful football games one day.

Dabo was as humble and gracious a winner as I have ever seen. I am not the most religious guy in the world by a long shot , but I have to admire a guy like Dabo who is.

Anybody think Bama started playing not to lose? Maybe missed Lane's play calling? Didn't have faith in Hurt to throw the ball downfield? Clemson scored 21 in the 4th which began with Bama up 10.

I know the USuC fans are just hating life this a.m. Old Spurrier got a warm reception last night...LMFAO. I doubt either side had much love for him.

They certainly seemed to. My assumption is that Saban expected his defense to get a stop, which was not an unreasonably expectation. Instead, Clemson went on TD drives of 88 yards and 68 yards with its final two possessions. Just an incredible performance under pressure by the Tigers.

Since getting shellacked 70-33 by West Virginia in the 2012 Orange Bowl, the Tigers have gone 6-1 in bowl games. That's 3 "regular" bowl wins followed by a 1-1 playoff record last season and a 2-0 playoff record this season.

There are only four teams that were in the way of a playoff appearance for us this year. Georgia, VA Tech, Duke, State. Be real.
