this article talks about Roy's Finland trip to see this young fella and have an in home visit.

It also contains a 4 minute video..first time I have seen him play for more than a 30 second clip.
This young man is IMPRESSIVE ... he has great skills and can run like a deer. Very good defensive instincts and can handle it well for a near 7 footer

He reminds me a little of Tyler Zeller...but I think he can be BETTER than the Z man

I sure hope this kid ends up at Carolina... I can see why Roy traveled all the way to Finland to see him.

Crossing my fingers and toes on this one.

I pray to god that we land him after missing out on Cody Zeller..(who he reminds me of.. but with a better jump shot)

Lauri has huge upside, a talented player already, can you imagine 3-4 years of watching Lauri? Wow. I hope Steve and Roy laid it all out for him.

He has a nice fade away and he can hit from range, like 3 pt. range! Nice passer, runs the floor, I liked the part in the video when he takes it from half court to the hoop, IIRC, with a little finger role at the finish! He and Tony together? Woowee folks. Good to be a Heel!

Tom..i don't think he would make it to a 3rd year at unc!!...he's already projected as a mid first rounder in next year's draft!!

Just looked 247sports and they have Arizona at 100%. Can someone please explain that. I don't follow that site that close.

He could go to Arizona..but it won't be because of their crystal ball!!....that sight has no more credibility than me or you when it comes to predictions!!..sometimes they get it right..alot of times they're wrong!!..50-50 with those guys..

It's based on like 2 or 3 predictions and they are from a few months ago. One of those predictions is an Arizona insider.

I'd say we are 50%, Zona 30%, Utah 20% if I had to guess now based on what everyone has said.

Yep. 247 is fairly reliable IF you have a lot of predictions and you drill down to look at the most recent ones.

A few weeks ago they were showing Robinson slightly favoring FSU - but that was ALL from 2014 and early 2015 predictions. The recent predictions showed it a 2-school race with UNC leading Louisville. Then last week a lot of "experts" changed their predictions and ALL the most recent calls were for UNC.

Which is to say that I wouldn't read anything at all into that 100% for Arizona. In fact, I would expect a number of predictions for UNC over the next few days.

I sort of wish we were the last school he plans to visit. But I won't be surprised if he commits earlier than that.

The main concern I have is if Lauri considers himself a OAD. We should have Isaiah and Kennedy as our starters. One might leave early. But if that doens't happen, it's hard to see Roy playing Lauri ahead of a very good senior.

BTW, one of those AZ predictions is from Jerry Meyer who was dead WRONG on Bradley.

Really like this kid. But he looks like a 3/4. Would like to add one bruising big man to this class. Bradley comes across as more of a face up 4. Very happy to see UNC going after more of those skill sets in big men

I agree that Lauri looks like a 3/4 hybrid (or the ever-so-popular "stretch 4") and I agree that another true "big" would be a great get. But I disagree with the notion that Bradley is a face up 4. I think he's as close to a classic pivot man as you'll find in high school basketball these days and from what I've seen, I actually liken his game to Brad Daugherty.

I agree with the slinger on his assessment of Bradley..as true a pivot man as you will see in college ball

See a lot of Drew Gooden in him. Which is good.

The video is deceptively put together. As it starts, it's all close to the basket, so I say "yeah, but does he have range"? Then the video proceeds to show his range. Then I say "yeah, but can he put the ball on the floor" so the video proceeds to him driving. I really like this kid's game. I can't remember the last time the Heels had a true stretch 4. The baseline fadeaway looks pure. I would LOVE to see this kid in Carolina blue!

I agree slanger with your view of Bradley, I may have envoked Bad Brad as well considering him. Lauri thou, I am not yet so sure he is a stretch 4. All I have seen are a few clips of his play, clips can be arranged in a way to make something look like a strength that may not be. I do know euro big men are well schooled in the paint as a norm, he appears to be solid keeping the ball high and seems to have nice foot work, traits of more an inside operator. Yeah, I see he can hit the open look from outside but I saw JP hit a shot over his back from mid court in a pre-game warm up, didn't convince me JP was a shooter. My point, don't believe clips or Micky D games, I believe how they play in our jersey vs real competition.

I do like that lauri seems to have good hands and seems able to put the ball on the floor in a way that makes me think he could do a great job in the high post. But I don't know right now how often I want my 6'11" guy taking fade away jumpers from 15-20ft out.

I think he's very unique. It's tough to peg Lauri as something because we don't see many 6'11'' kids with his type of range and touch at 18 years old.

Great call on Bradley and Brad D. Bradley is a traditional back to the basket post guy, Lauri would fit in very well at the 4 with some high low game.

Would love to see Lauri bump up that commitment in the next week or two but it's probably just a hope. We'll need to impress him on that visit.

Will the CB recruiting gurus in Finland be feeding info back to the States on how the visit went. LOL.

1:33 points to the passer....I think this kid ends up wearing Carolina Blue. Roy has spent a lot of time over there

What's crazy is..if we land this kid,we would have had to go 1,000's of miles to get him..but can't pull in kids in our own backyard.. (if we strike out on all of them)..which that is looking more and more realistic everyday !!..not just talent..but top ten talent!!..go figure!!

Wow! Don't think so positive!!! SMH!!

That is the most unrelated, irrelevant load of crap I've ever heard strung together about our recruiting. Who cares where we go to get talent? In case you were living under a rock, we're still in limbo here. We're not getting kids until all this crap is over. You don't hear fans of other schools complaining when they get a kid from overseas.

Honestly, we have some of the most spoiled fans I've ever seen.

Didn't we just land two kids..but we're not getting kids until this crap is over right?..get your argument together first before you try to call me out!!..i want the kid..don't you ever doubt me on that ...and yeah I'm spoiled!!..why shouldn't I be...I live in the heart of unc basketball..I don't know where you are from..but it goes alot deeper for the fans within the state!!..and to lose kids that is in your backyard and we are"UNC"..is foreign to me!!

I think she meant that as things have changed since the days of MJ, Stackhouse, etc.. with the allegations still in place. We can't just count on getting most of the top NC talent.

And she's right. When you have this cloud hanging over you have to do things differently. You have to wow kids during in home visits, you have to wow them at officials, and sometimes you have to go to Finland. Which is what we're doing and thus we are still getting kids.

Credit Roy for not having the attitude that some of you have that think we can just sit back and kids will still come to us. He's working his tail off on the trail and it is coming to fruition.

So you actually believe we can land top 10 talent consistently without clearing up this NCAA mess first? If so, you're a bigger idiot than I thought. How about you stop taking my words out of context first? We're not getting top 10 talent consistently until this NCAA cloud stops hanging over our head. Is that the only reason? Of course not, and I've never said that. But it's a huge factor. Especially for a kid who only gets one year in college and could potentially face that year sitting out from the tournament. And anyone with a partially functioning brain knows this.

Sorry you're not accustomed to doing nothing but winning, but I trust in Roy and everything he's doing for this program. He's going to get us back on track. And it'll be sooner than most are giving him credit for.

It's "he", but you're right lol.

There are ten kids in the top ten. And KU, UK, Dook, UNC, et al are all after them.
There are 300 D1 schools. Now please stop crying about not landing top ten talent.

Are we positive Lauri will be eligible? Lots of overseas players have eligibility issues.

Um, just guessing but with the length of time in on this kid, his family & Roy...yeah, I'd hazard a guess he is academically eligible.

Not trying to be an arse but I honestly do not agree the NCAA stuff is the biggest factor in our not getting these top 10 kids. Yes, it is a factor for sure but I don't see back to green flag racing the day that goes away.

For several reasons, UNC is just not looked at as a place that caters to the one & done level player and now days if you are top 20 you feel like you are one & done. There is a general perception, wrongful in my view, that UNC does not give freshmen the ability to start or be the center piece of the offense. The feeling is UNC forces you to play in their system and that system limits a freshman because it takes so long to get comfortable in. While I do not agree that to be fact, the PERCEPTION has been sold far & wide to those kids we are and have been recruiting. Our rivals are selling this perception and selling it hard and being very successful in doing so.

Back to topic, who agrees with me that we get Lauri ? No inside info, but my gut is screaming we get this kid. I would love to see us develope a little euro pipeline to counter the one & doners stateside that are looking elsewhere.

And ya know what, this kid could in the end be a bigger value guy than the likes of Ingram, Giles, dennis, or Bam. Reason being, those one & done fellas best game will NOT be in college, they will be gone after a single season. But if we get Lauri he will not just be with us a while (likely 3 and maybe 4) but he is a bit like Kaminsky was last season, gets better each season and all the sudden becomes a Wooden canidate. He and Bradley are rocks we can build off of that have HUGE upsides.

I don't think it's the biggest factor either. But I do think it is a factor, however. And a big one. It's been stated by recruits themselves that coaches have been using the NCAA against us. I'm on the record for saying the exact same thing I bolded. It's not going to be clear skies as soon as everything's cleared up, but it sure as hell won't be as difficult as it is now. We'll still have to worry about public perception of the university, but we sure as hell won't have to deal with recruiters claiming we are going to get hammered.

I agree 100%. Something tells me that we can beat out Arizona and Utah for him. Weren't we the only school that had an in-home?

I'm really hopeful about this kid!
