Like What You Like | Because I Can | Diet Coke Commercial

With what we know about health today..anyone who drinks soda on a daily basis, even diet, is an idiot.

Jus' curious, has anyone tried one of those new flavored diet cokes . . ?

I don't do sodas for the most part, but, will on an extremely long occasion have a coca-cola with a sammich.

The actor (Karan Soni) was in Deadpool so he gets a pass from me. More importantly, I just realized that commercial is taking place at the same time as the other Diet Coke commercial that stars Gillian Jacobs (from Community, so she also gets a pass) but just at the opposite angle. That's kind of wild to me. They both raise their drinks as they pass, if you want to have any clue what I'm talking about.

More soda for me I guess

Commercials are intentionally ridiculous. I just wonder if some ad campaigns do more harm than good.

The one that gets me is the car insurance ad where the guy is shaving his head because, after he pays car insurance, he has no money for a haircut.

I drink soda, and do other things that are not the best for me like eat cheeseburgers and drink alcohol, and I do so because I like to. I don't smoke or do drugs, and don't really understand why people would, but they do so because they like it. People make choices that aren't the best, or the healthiest, but if it makes them happy and doesn't harm someone else, go for it.

As for that actor, he annoyed me too.
Ima give him a pass because @heelz2345 told me to, but the dialogue in that commercial isn't doing him any favors. Who the hell says "super good"? Or is "into friends who leave voicemails?" If one of my friends left me a voicemail, I would probably have him committed.

The clincher is when he says, "Whatever you're into, you're into. Keep being into it." Uhhhh. What if I'm into stabbing puppies? Or human sacrifice?

I could probably do a 500-word exposition on how awful this commercial is, but fortunately the YouTube commenters have saved me the trouble. One of my favorites: "Baby Boomers think this is how Millennials talk." Hahaha.

You don't fall for the crap? What crap are you referring to?

Anything they tell us is bad unless it's obvious. I have been drinking DC for 20 years regularly because I like it as do others. All my annual physicals are great. I regularly work out and eat smart while cheating once a week I could get cancer tomorrow and it wouldn't have a damn thing to do with diet coke. My 82 father had eight lesions on his brain and passed away 3 weeks later. He was a coach , pro ball player and still ran until his knees gave out at 78. Yes they found the cancer In the brain but it is very rare to actually start in the brain. It actually started in the lung and metastasized to the brain. My dad never smoked a cigarette in his life so I guess my only point is our lives are in God's hand. Yes we can be sensible but it will never change our time. Just my belief and nobody will change it.

Oh I'm not saying the commercial is that good, just that I think the guy is funny in Deadpool, but yeah some of the dialogue is rough. It's no "Buy the world a Coke"

As for that actor, he annoyed me too. Wasn't he in Office Christmas Party @heelz2345 ? He's pretty good in that. That movie is funny as shit BTW.
Yeah I believe he was in that. I didn't see it all the way through, caught about 15 minutes on cable, need to go back and give it a full watch.

Also @strummingram it's also kind of like eggs. They used to be bad for you because they were high in cholesterol now they're encouraged because they are high in protein and some actually say it's good for a healthy amount of cholesterol. I just believe everything works itself out kind of like global warming. I believe God is in control and not man so that may be where we differ and I'm perfectly fine being the minority in this area.

Well, I agree that just because you smoke every day doesn't mean you absolutely will contract and die from a cancer, or COPD, or asthma, or emphysema. However, I feel quite sure that, while you are also damaging your health in many other ways when you frequently inhale a carcinogen, you are also increasing the likelihood of contracting terminal illnesses directly related to that carcinogen.

Genetics have a lot to do with it, too. And, I can agree that "God" is also a variable. Although, the presence of God and the actions of God are probably a little different in my understanding as compared to yours. I don't think God has any particular interest in whether or not these bodies we occupy live 2 years or 200 years. However, as sentient, conscious beings, we have choices. And, we choose what we nourish our bodies with and that affects the quality of our life. If you drink liquid plummer, there will be consequences for that.

It's interesting to me how people make choices that essentially lead to their death- slowly and painfully... and, often at their own expense*. And, that is seen as okay. It's called "Commerce" in a certain context. But, if they blow their brains out, quick and painlessly, by their own choice, it is considered a tragedy. To me, willingly consuming "food" or whatever that are just harmful to your body is just as tragic as hanging yourself.

Who would rather die slow and painfully rather than quick and painlessly?

* Just got back from MN and my brother's wedding. My brother drinks too much and smokes too much and is overweight. No exercise at all. Eats whatever. He has really bad acid re-flux and upset stomach. Anyway, all his friends and his new wife's friends all smoke like chimneys. It was gross. You know what a pack of brand cigarettes costs up there??? $9.25!!! Sheezus!!!

Well, "God" is in control... sort of, I guess. I'm not sure I'd call it in control. I believe God is allowing it all to just happen and enjoys the show. No preferences, no rules or regulations, no judgement, no approval or refusal. We make up all those details. Because, a universal understanding of God is yet to be recognized. If God is ever shown to be one thing, then everyone will believe that God is only that one thing, A lot of people think a super-human parental figure, who now lives in the sky, waved a wand and everything was here. And, they believe that "He" is keeping track of everything we do. Now, that's all fine, if you want to believe that. But, to me, that's too naive and juvenile. That is making God out to basically be Santa Claus with a sexier resume'.

Global Warming is "working itself out." Humans are the author's of our own demise. God couldn't care less if we survive or not. There are countless forms of Life that will continue on after we go.

I smoked for a long time and although there are a scant few times that I would have given $100 for a pack of cigarettes, I can’t imagine paying $10 on the regular for them.
