I can assure you that Longo leaving has zero impact on Drake. If he leaves it won't have anything to do with Longo. You had a good run Longo.
Yea, that wouldn't make any sense. He's going to have a new OC regardless of if he stays or leaves. Might be in the minority but I think this works out for all parties.I can assure you that Longo leaving has zero impact on Drake. If he leaves it won't have anything to do with Longo.
At least until he was in the red zoneYou had a good run Longo.
So that will be Bicknell’s 5th school in last 5 years??Bicknell is leaving to go with Longo so UNC needing to hire both OC/OL coach thus far.
Ole Miss in 2019, Auburn in 2020, Louisville in 2021, UNC in 2022 and now Wisconsin in 2023. He has his realtor on retainer. So that will be Bicknell’s 5th school in last 5 years??
Plus he was OL coach at Ole Miss with Phil
Bubba? How much longer does Mack have. Can’t smooze his way out of this 🔥. The big money 💰 donors may force him to take a higher role and give up HC. Build this staff over again. If Bubba wants to save his ash he may need to force some big changes asap.Wonder how much longer Bubba has?
Longo knows that Fickle is a DC guy, and a very good one. The natural assumption is that Fickle can take care of the D side and allow him to run wild with Wisconsin's offense. Clearly Fickell wants more passing than Wisconsin traditionally has done.Rats leaving a sinking ship. Longo had much better success than our DC had, despite a mediocre OL. Our program is unraveling before our eyes. I’m for canning the entire staff and starting all over. It will be verrrry interesting to see who his replacement will be.
I imagine he'll be kept around in case the money guys want to get rid of Mack. They'll need a fall guy. Although, if Hubert doesn't pick it up they might use Bubba for that one.Wonder how much longer Bubba has?
Top OCs who want to work for Mack at his age and his obvious level of underachieving per the talent he has on hand? Going down with an old coach over the hill is not anybody's dream.Surely there are some OC's out there that are much better in the RZ and can utilize a Heisman QB to execute their offense. I gotta believe that having a Heisman contender would be a huge draw for an OC that knows WTH he's doing.
I think Sconny is getting two guys that couldn't make it work at a mediocre ACC football program with 2 former NCAA National Champion coaches and a Heisman QB.
Many of the biggest money boosters are basketball-firsters, and they love Mack. They'd be happy tomhave him at age 80 as long as he wins at least 5 games per year.Bubba? How much longer does Mack have. Can’t smooze his way out of this 🔥. The big money 💰 donors may force him to take a higher role and give up HC. Build this staff over again. I don’t have any inside information but the timing of all this along with other things that have transpired lead me to believe Seth Littrell could be a name to watch…. I had seen Longo mentioned a couple of different places but Wisconsin wasn’t one of themI know Longone just left ... any thoughts or word on street of a possible replacement... just curious.. I know it probably won't happen till bowl season is over
Littrell needs a job, but why do you assume that his having been here under Fedora means he wants to work for Mack? He now has been fired as HC of a lesser G5 school. He needs to be a very good OC again to get another HC shot. Is it a good move for him to get hitched to Mack Brown at his age?Yawn. Now go hire Seth Littrell.
Criswell was going to leave anyway.Longo may take Jacolby Criswell with him.
I know he’s in the portal. I’m saying Longo may get him out the portal.Criswell was going to leave anyway.
Just wanted to confirm that you're joking, right?Yawn. Now go hire Seth Littrell.
Considering Mack's age and proven inability to win unless he has more talent that his foe, just which guys who are obviously better than Littrell do you think would love to get tied to Mack right now?Just wanted to confirm that you're joking, right?
Obviously better? Can't really know for sure. But I would hope we could do better than him. If that's the best hire we can make, we should probably just shut down the program.Considering Mack's age and proven inability to win unless he has more talent that his foe, just which guys who are obviously better than Littrell do you think would love to get tied to Mack right now?
Longo is not returning to his home school or state or conference. He is not going to work for a friend he has worked with before. Longo is getting away from what could be a train wreck that could take out everybody on the Mack staff.
This program is in a very vulnerable spot. And it should not be a big surprise. Unless Mack were hired with limits on how long he could stay (no more than 5 years is what I think should heave been the limit), his ego was certain to mean that he would cause problems as divisive for the fan base and as lasting as he did his final 4 years in Austin.
Longo and Fickell have been friends for years ever since Phil applied for the Cincy job. Wiscy has struggled at QB for years and Phil being able to bring Criswell with him, who obviously already knows Phil’s scheme, is/was a huge bonus. Also making more $ and playing in a conference with a B1G future ahead was a plus.Considering Mack's age and proven inability to win unless he has more talent that his foe, just which guys who are obviously better than Littrell do you think would love to get tied to Mack right now?

I don't get the Mack bashing. Yeah, it's been frustrating but we still won the Coastal, won 9 games, and despite the poor showing, played for the ACC title, and we have a lot of good players that just haven't completely gelled.Littrell needs a job, but why do you assume that his having been here under Fedora means he wants to work for Mack? Mack wasn't involved with the program pre 1990, so woad is going to bash him. We could hire Saban to be our coach tomorrow and woad would find something to complain about.I don't get the Mack bashing. Plenty of talented programs underperform, especially during a rebuild.
I think they hired Mack, the first time, in 87 or 88-ish. It was after I flunked-out, lol. But, he sucked in the late 80s.Mack wasn't involved with the program pre 1990, so woad is going to bash him. We could hire Saban to be our coach tomorrow and woad would find something to complain about.
You're right, but I'm sure you get the point I was trying to make.I think they hired Mack, the first time, in 87 or 88-ish. It was after I flunked-out, lol. But, he sucked in the late 80s.
Ummm... YES!You're right, but I'm sure you get the point I was trying to make.
AS Mack has spent most of his time with the press not talking about how bad the D is but talking about how the offense needs to improve intros and that, perhaps we then need to focus on Mack as the problem.Longo has been very good. Not great considering the talent he’s had, but quite good nonetheless. The DC position is of much bigger concern to me. What a dumpster fire!
My view that Crum needed to go started in 1985. In 1984, UNC slipped to 5-5-1. That was bad, but in 1985, the record was 5-6. Back to back off years without at least a winning team was a bad sign. I hoped that UNC would replace Crum after the '85 season.Ummm... YES!
I wonder if he found reasons to shit on Dick Crum in 1980! Or, at least before or after 1980! My dad sure loved to criticize Crum! He loved Bill Dooley... I think because they shared the same first name! lol
I would not want Saban hired now because of his age. He has no time left to rebuild a program. But I would have loved Saban to be at UNC even before his LSU days, because I saw what he could do at Michigan St. I knew the guy would eventually win big. He had all the old school grit and smarts. He clearly was a next generation version of the Bear Bryant and Woody Hayes basic types: total attention to detail with unrelenting focus on team discipline - no soft soap about anything. You're right, but I'm sure you get the point I was trying to make.
The gift of hindsight makes anyone sound like they're brilliant at predictions. I assume your dad knew what UNC football was before Dooley, and that is the reason that everybody who knew those bad years and truly cared about UNC football loved Dooley. The program was literally filled with people who felt it wasn't worth trying , and Dooley changed all that. If he had been given full. backing, I think he would have had a great shot to make UNC football what Clemson become in 1981.Ummm... YES!

I didn't. I did think he was the better Michigan QB at the time. He and Drew Henson split time, with Henson playing a bit more because he was a phenomenal all around athlete. But I would not have guessed that Brady would have had that Pro career. The gift of hindsight makes anyone sound like they're brilliant at predictions. sigh... I used Brady as an arbitrary example of... never mind. I should have my face chewed off for arguing with you.I didn't. I did think he was the better Michigan QB at the time.
