Luke Maye contribution this season..

It would be nice to know what he's been working on.

He's sort of a tweener. A bit too short and under-powered to be a PF, not quick enough to be a SF. Good instincts, and moves pretty well.

Assuming he hasn't gotten any taller, he could either have tried to bulk up in the off-season to be more fit at PF, or tried to slim down to help his quickness at SF.

I'm assuming he worked on bulking up. Plus skills, of course.

With more experience under his belt and a more muscular build, he should be a no-cringe sub for 4-5 minutes each half.

He has promising passing chops and the potential to be a decent shooter - although we didn't see much of that. So if he worked on those skills, he might even earn more minutes.

We would like to be able to count on Luke picking up the minutes and scoring provided last season by himself and Joel James. That's actually closer to 13 minutes (although that's somewhat misleading to the high side since neither player played in all games). Together they averaged 3.4 points and 4.0 rebounds. He needs to be more efficient than that.

The biggest uncertainty we face with our front line is not knowing how many minutes our guys can play. Can Isaiah stay out of foul trouble? Can Kennedy stay healthy? Will Tony be ready for long minutes at this level of competition? Those are the guys we want on the floor the most.

The good news is that if we need Luke to play more minutes, he looks like he could handle it. The bad news is that if we do need Luke to play more minutes, we're probably in trouble.

Obviuosly will contribute alot since Roy felt he was the only big man he would need from the 2015 class. Otherwise he would have reeled in a few more. 15 minutes per game at least.

Maye was the only big we could land. Part of that due to the scandal and the other part because each of our backup plans were extremely long shots

Seeing that some believe Maye is "the type to light us up for 20", I hope to see some improvement towards that.

He should improve with all the playing time so he can also put up some good numbers next year as well. He will have a role to fill and he should be able to figure it out.

This topic again?
Roy brought him in because he saw his potential for the next three years. Of course he should get alot of burn. I hope no one is saying that this was a bad move to give him a scholly at UNC or Roy doesn't know what he is doing.

Pretty sure he was referring to how many times we've seen a "Luke Maye Contribution" thread since hes been at UNC.

Honestly for the sake of this team having as successful a season as possible....

Not more than 6-8 MPG

He is a stretch 4. I actually think dude is going to become a very good three point shooter. Not saying he is Kevin Love but his game is similiar on how they are effective on the court. If he git burn last year with a crowded front court he for sure is going to see plenty of PT now. If Theo can't play with JJ (which I have my doubts) then Maye can play with either of them on the court.

Back-up for games when Isaiah picks up his third foul before tip-off.
Back-up for Kennedy's annual December-January knee/mystery illness/form slump
Back-up for Tony's Freshman jitters.

I hope none of the above happens, and if all the above is just me poking fun, Luke will still be good for a solid 10-12 min per game, he'll back down to no one, no matter how much bigger they are and he may even hit a three pointer or two. Stretch 4 with some grunt and solid nous.

I'm just guessing, but I reckon he'd be one mean practice player too.
