Luke Maye, MVP...

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm................................. that can't be gary! He will be NO HELP next year, just ask any of our experts!

If Roy had actually cared enough to give the kid a scholarship rather than inviting him as a walk on ...

Congrats to Luke. He will be a contributor for us in some way. I'm still on the side that he doesn't possess the skill set or physicality to be a big time player. But I'd gladly like for him to prove me wrong but don't think it'll happen.

Agree with you, but every team needs that "glue guy" who pushes others to be better. He's that kind of guy.

Just because some peeps might feel something doesn't mean they have to say it in a public forum. I understand the "I'm trying to give my impartial insight angle" but I just don't think it jibes with the UNC Family idea and the idea behind this being a UNC fan sight. Also, this is a thread that congratulates a new Tar Heel, why do our "fans have to insert critique here?

I have been struggling for years with the fact that some don't know the difference between honest critique and bashing.

"He might need a few years to develop" = critique
"He doesn't have the skill set to have an impact at UNC" =bashing.

Congratulations Mr Maye! I can't wait to see you, your love for the Tar Heels, and your incrdible work ethic in Tar Heel Blue next year!

Heels are Family!

Al McGuire was at his smartest when talking about the pieces a great team required: 1 true Star (usually a SR or JR), a #2 star (usually a year or 2 behind the Star), a scrapper (on the boards and on D), and a Glue Guy. He stressed that a team made up of all guys who think of themselves as either Stars or #2 stars would have chemistry issues.

Why can't Luke Maye be like a Matt Howard type player that Butler had a couple of years ago? Gritty , smart , and can shoot.

It's pretty close to that in the modern era. The only difference I see is most championship teams have a #1 and #2 and they're close with a #3 who's pretty good too. The 09 heels had that with hansbrough, Ellington, Lawson and they then had great, modest talent in Green, Davis and zeller. Dook this year had their big three plus role players.
