Let's start here. This is what Coach Davis lost as a new coach from last year's and this year's rosters (Have you guys forgotten?):
1. Day'Ron Sharpe - 1st Rounder for the NBA Brooklyn Nets (left after 1 year under RW)
2. Andrew Platek - Averaging 9 pts a game w Siena after leaving under RW
3. Garrison Brooks - Averaging 12 pts a game in a strong, physical SEC after leaving under RW
4. Walker Kessler - Having perhaps an all SEC year at Auburn avg 11 and 8 for #1 Auburn after leaving under RW
5. Walker Miller - Having an all-conf year at Monmouth avg. 14 and 6 after leaving under RW
6. Sterling Manley - Big Man underclassman who impressed in off-season, sign pro contract in China after leaving under RW
7. Dawson Garcia - Key big man transfer who appears to have left UNC under HD
8. Anthony Harris - injured
I guess somehow we were supposed to lose all of this, mostly under RW, and somehow still win the ACC. Tied for fourth in the ACC after losing to Duke isn't good enough. Neither is being 16-7 and 12-1 at home.
For me, with all the attrition, I'm shocked that Hubert has us where we are. Obviously, he hasn't has the chance to bring in his recruits and grow his own program yet. But, I can't remember a team anywhere that lost so much and is still standing. And, I certainly can't remember a new coach that lost so must versus the prior and current rosters.
Resign? You guys are kidding right. No shame in losing to Duke this year. Even at home. Duke has a roster filled with future pros. And, they are clearly under-rated at #9. In time, Coach D will have us where we need to be.
