Manny Diaz leaving the U

He is the new head coach at Temple

Seems as though things are not that rosy after all in Miami....The Canes have 1 decommit after the announcement with a few other defensive recruits uncertain to what they will do....Might be a good time for Bateman to turn a few of the Cane recruits, especially the DT out of Buford Georgia?

Losing Diaz could hurt Miami a good deal. Richt must get a good DC, not a great recruiter to be DC but a very good DC.

Richt also needs to shift Miami's offense back to its classic style. That is more imperative now than it was last year, for 2 reasons: Mullen at UF and Briles as FSU OC. Both want QBs who run a bunch. Both will be able to land top rated 'athlete' QBs. If Miami also wants 'athlete' QBs who run fairly often, then Miami will be the small private school doing exactly the same thing as its large in-state school competitors, which is a recipe for mediocrity.

If Richt fails in these areas, he could be looking for a new job within a couple of years. And that goes double if Mack gets UNC off and running and VT recovers next year and GT gets on track without the PJ option by Year 2.

Is he definitely more promising than Jaden McKenzie? We have a good shot at McKenzie.

I don't understand the switch from more traditional passing QBs to runners. Richt was successful at Georgia with guys like Stafford and Aaron Murray who relied far more on their arms than their ability to run.

And the top RBs kept coming to be Bulldogs.

Richt was the middle aged crazy guy, coach version. His apparel changed too. He tried to look more hip.

His seat will be hot if he does not get it right, and with Diaz gone, the Miami boosters already wary of what he is doing and not doing will become more vocal.

Richt has definitely been a disappointment there so far. I thought it was a homerun hire at the time. Maybe he got a little burned out at Georgia after being there so long and the combination of going back to his alma mater and the recruiting potential there, I thought he would have immediate success in rebuilding the program.

Couple of things Miami doesn't even really play its games in Miami, and except for FSU their game day atmosphere is on par or worse than ours. They also don't have the money to put into football like even a UNC; they are behind, and are about to get lapped by even the likes of USF if they don't figure out a way to influx more cash without cheating.

Don't know if he is or not, but we've had a few Buford kids play for the Tar Heels, and it is a very strong program in Georgia, so the kid is probably well coached, and he is currently a 4 star DT....
