Marcus Paige is one of the best pure shooters in UNC history.

I would rank him up there with Al Wood, Walter Davis and Wayne Ellington.
Marcus came in as a scorer who could shoot a bit and play some PG. He has transformed himself into a tremendous shooter along the way.
BTW: The long-range stroke he showed Tuesday will do worlds for his NBA aspirations. Our current backcourt situation where MP can get shots without having to run the offense bodes very, very well for him and us.

I guess it depends on the definition of "pure". I remember a very similar thread was posted toward the end of last season. My answer then is the same as now, YES, Marcus Paige is one of the best shooters we've ever seen at UNC. I know stats aren't the whole story, but just look at his production. He will soon, within the next few games, be UNC's #1 all-time in 3 pointers made. He is currently UNC's #1 all-time in career free throw percentage. Not many of us really expected him, early on when he was a freshman, to be the shooter he has become, but the numbers don't lie. Another thing for Marcus is he is extremely clutch. Never will forget that time we beat State in their gym on the back of Marcus Paige's 35 points (26 after halftime) including 7 threes and the heart-stopping driving layup at the buzzer in OT. There have been many games where there was a ton of pressure on Marcus being the only reliable shooter on the floor for UNC and he delivered, especially late in games. Simply a remarkable player. We have been extremely fortunate to have him for 4 years!!

Marcus has done a lot for this University as the University has for him...he was a life long Heel fan and lived his dream..being from Iowa, I've followed him for years, couldn't ask for a better true student athlete and young man.
