• CAROLINA is now 6-1 overall and 3-0 at the Smith Center this season.

• CAROLINA made 9 of 13 shots from three-point range, tying the sixth-highest percentage (.692) in a game in school history with at least 10 three-point attempts.

• CAROLINA made 6 of 7 three-point attempts in the second half (.857).

• CAROLINA is now 123-57 against Maryland and has beaten the Terps nine straight times and 15 of the last 19.

• Tonight marked the first time UNC and Maryland played when both teams were ranked in the Top 10 since No. 9 UNC beat No. 6 Maryland, 86-83, in College Park, Md., on Jan. 10, 2001.

• No. 9 ranked CAROLINA beat No. 2 Maryland tonight. That equals the highest ranking for Maryland in a win by the Tar Heels. On Jan. 25, 1976, fifth-ranked CAROLINA beat No. 2 Maryland, 95-93, in overtime in Carmichael Auditorium. UNC also beat No. 2 Maryland, on Jan. 25, 1975, in Cole Fieldhouse.

• CAROLINA is now 9-8 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including 9-4 under head coach ROY WILLIAMS and 4-4 at home.

• Senior guard MARCUS PAIGE made his 2015-16 season debut and scored 20 points with five assists and two steals in 34 minutes. It was Paige’s 18th-career 20-point game.

• PAIGE made four three-pointers (in five attempts). He tied 2009 Final Four MVP Wayne Ellington for second place in UNC history with 229 career three-pointers. Shammond Williams holds the record with 233.

• Tonight was the 16th time PAIGE has made four or more three-pointers in a game.

• JUSTIN JACKSON had a career-high five steals.

• CAROLINA forced 22 turnovers (Maryland came into the game averaging 12.5 per game). That is the most turnovers by a UNC opponent this season (previous was 19 by Fairfield).

• JOEL BERRY II had 14 points and a season-high five assists. He tied his career high with three 3FGs (third time in his career with three).

• CAROLINA shot a season-high 53.2 percent from the floor, the fourth time this season the Tar Heels shot better than 50 percent from the floor. Tonight marked the first time Carolina shot better than 50 percent from the floor in both halves (.548 in first and .516 in second).
