If he chooses to stay at UNC, I hope the coaching staff improves in order to make the most of his potential. The whole thing has completely changed course in a month's time.
They aren't going to contact him directly, so he isn't lying. But I guarantee 3rd parties from other schools have reached out to folks connected to him. I don't think he would leave because of the family connection. But him probably being the leading NFL QB prospect entering next year, I am sure that possibly going somewhere with an OL that could not leave him running for his life all night might be attractive.
Agreed, why not have a more honest answer OR give a 'no comment's type of answer regarding contacts. Hmm.
Maybe he wants to keep the dirty laundry to himself. You never know who you might need in the future.
It doesn't even have to be dirty laundry. He was a Bama commit, and he wood have gotten to know some Bama boosters. And it is possible that one or more of them may have let him know in some way that they would love for him to be Bama QB in 2023, leading the Tide to another National Championship. No money offered, just letting him know that if he wants to win big and be a legit Heisman candidate, he has a spot in Tuscaloosa.
And that is what is out there. Every booster of every team that needs a Top QB to make a National Champ run in 2023 would love for Maye to get tired of mediocre football under Mack. And all of those places will have big NIL money found for him if he wants to make the move.
Not getting a NY invite isn't a good thing. If he's on any of the other blue bloods, then he makes it with the exact same stats. So basically Drake has to be willing to be ok with no chance of winning a Heisman, no chance of going to the playoffs and most likely making less money. That's a lot for "loyalty" to overcome.
Once he realized how gutted the defense will be, possible staff changes etc... he may reconsider getting in the portal. He likely only has one more year before entering the draft and would want to get the most out of it.
I don’t have a dog in this fight but , I just find that hard to believe. The insiders on our board said we would have no shot at him because Alabama and Ohio St. were in a bidding war for him and they aren’t even trying to hide it.

Your insiders are right, but it doesn't have anything to do with Alabama or Ohio State.
No he didn't. He isn't directly handling anything. If someone representing a school contacts a third party, all it means is they contacted a third party. It doesn't mean they contacted him.
Insiders on Kentuckys board . Maybe they are wrong but , I can’t imagine he hasn’t at least been contacted.
Most people in the sport know he isn't leaving UNC for many reasons, money being one of them. We are very well sourced, and until I am told otherwise, I have zero reason to believe he will leave. I've laid it all out on the premium board.

No offense at all. No ego here, I just want to make sure accurate stuff is being reported. This is a tender time for UNC fans, and incorrect info can spread quickly and lead to negative reactions toward the players. If I can help alleviate some of that by reporting only facts, I will do it.

I am a State supporter. One of my best friends is a Tar Heel guy. My friend told me on Saturday that his friend, an historic Tar Heel athlete who is in the know, told him that Maye will enter the portal. Given the ties the Maye family has with UNC, plus the millions that Drake Maye will make in the NFL in the very near future, it makes no sense that the portal is a viable option. But rumors fail to die.
The CBS tweet was fake. And, like Andrew stated, there is a difference between a school/staff contacting him and the school/staff contacting a 3rd party.

I think the game changer was the few hundred dollars I donate to the Ram's Club. I knew he wouldn't turn me down.
