Is he fully healed? Can he play next fall at near the level he last played? If yes, then somebody is going to get a huge boost.

Will Miami go after him?

Baylor's Charlie Brewer is now in the Transfer Portal. He's another who could help a team a great deal while its younger QBs mature.

Jace Ruder in transfer portal.

Could he just never get healthy? Did he, especially with injury issues, have very little chance because he was not a Longo recruit?

Charlotte native Garrett Shrader, who started 4 games for Miss St in 2019, has transferred to Syracuse.

I think a little of both. I wish him success wherever he goes. Always thought he was a good guy.

I pulled for Ruder as well and hope he will find somewhere he can be QB1

If Mack doesn’t flip Sam then he would have been the starter the last two years. He will be a stud at the G5 level.

Maybe @Ruder6 will give some scoop on Jace's plans, what he's looking for, etc. Be cool to hear an inside perspective on qb coaching, play-calling stuff.

Probably so. Back to back season-ending injuries is very hard to come back from. And Longo seems to be one of those QB coach/OC types who is focused on picking his guy. Longo recruited Howell to Ole Miss just like he did Criswell. He picked those QBs before he came to UNC.

One thing I wonder is if he is considering a position change. Chazz Surratt is set for an NFL career because he changed position. Bama's TE Forristall started at QB for Trevor Lawrence's HS before Lawrence took over. He has a great shot at an NFL career because he changed position.

Ruder is a great all around athlete. He might have it in him to become a valued TE/HB. Or even go to the D side, like Surratt.
