Meeks out 2 weeks with bone bruise on knee

Hope the big man is better soon! Did he get hurt in the Texas game or since the game?

Yeah, probably the second most important player on the team. Saturday just became a lot more difficult.

He tweaked his vagina muscle during the game..

Isiah and Brice should play most of the minutes with Maye and James playing sparingly. Joel James is a nightmare out there lmao. Reminds me of a better version of Damian Grant. Maye honestly plays pretty smart and hard...would much rather have him in there.

Was watching the game the other day and thinking, "Damn, which players do I even really get excited watching??" - Coming from a 20 year die hard UNC fan. Marcus Paige with Justin Jackson & Joel Berry here n there. But dang...hope Seventh and some of these other recruits turn out big time like some guys of the recent past.

Stay classy....

I would suggest not watching the games. Also, it would benefit us all if maybe you just never posted anything again. Thanks!

So what do you think? Does Hicks start alongside Johnson?

Probably not Saturday against UCLA but maybe against Tulane. The Tulane game could be interesting for a while. They have decent size and play 8 to 9 people. Everyone that plays will at least shoot the three if open, even their big guys.

I guess all the folks on here who don't like to see the big guy on the court get to see what that actually looks like. I, for one, am not looking forward to it. Hurry back KM- get yourself right and get back out there!!!

Nothing against James but if he plays 15+ minutes then we're in trouble and likely won't beat UCLA. I'd go with hicks and Brice or go small with theo at the 3, Jackson as a stretch 4 and Brice as the 5.

I'll be honest with you. I think Hicks brings just as much to the game as Meeks esp in the energy and defense department. I hope Meeks comes back healthy as ever and ready to play hard. Sucks to be hurt

I don't think people realize how important Meeks is. The team is almost always better with Meeks on the court than when he isn't. This is not debatable if you go by the numbers, which are kind of important in a game where you have to score more points than your opponent. Yet people want him to play less, which means they basically want the Heels to be less effective. Hicks needs to step up big time. He has to rebound and has to be aware of all the little things that go into being successful at this level. James just needs to defend and try and rebound. When Hicks is in we need more though because he has the potential to give us more.

Not arguing/disagreeing with you at all but what's the numbers to support what you're saying?

Meeks is still a young man with upside and a valuable contributor to the team. I join many others in wishing him a safe and speedy recovery.Just like when Paige was hurt others will have the opportunity to step up and earn playing time.

So here's the question. Do you start Hicks out of position and give up rebounding or do you start James and leave the better player coming off the bench out of fear for being unable to rebound effectively?

This will be a good test for our team...... I think they will respond and play well In his absence.

Hicks must rebound better and like Mike said, he and Brice must stay out of foul trouble. We aren't nearly as good without Keñnedy. We must have him healthy if we're to make à deep run.

Well maybe we now see why Meeks has not been going as full out as many want to see, especially it being a tender knee. Meeks is not a lazy player but a big man with a wheel that isn't right makes a kid like Meeks look a little less than wide open. I believe he had a similar issue about this time last season, it was called a flu bug but it was a flu bug that lingered for most of the second half of the season. I knew something didn't add up with his play last season and things did not add up just right in games this season, we are now beginning to see why.

Not sure I buy the bone bruise story folks, I am suspecting a tendon issue because I see traits of it for a good bit longer than just this current season. Don't want to scare folks just my opinion, I don't trust coaches talking about player injuries any more than I trust height & weight measures coaches provide for their rosters.

from a guy this size, it's more than a tendon...a tendon issue would be a blessing.
